Re: Yuki Bhambri
So, after the disappointing loss to #132 in Q1 of the French Open (his one and only clay court match of the year), Yuki will move on to the Surbiton Challenger on grass (starting two weeks from now).

Re: Yuki Bhambri
And he is also in the entry list of Nottingham challenger the week after that with his injury protected ranking. That makes 8th SE spot that he will use up. It leaves only 1 more for him to be used either at third week of grass challenger at Ilkely or at Wilmbledon qualies if it falls within his eligibility period.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Yuki has also entered Ilkley challenger in the week of June 19 with his protected ranking. That exhausts his injury protected ranking spots. So, it does seem now that he is not eligible to use PR for Wimbldon qualies which the is the week after 3 weeks of grass challengers. So, we will have keep our figers crossed to see if he makes it to the qualies draw on his current ranking.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
It will be touch and go, with Yuki probably making it to the alternates list at Roehampton. Anyway, the key is to do well in the grass Challengers and gain some valuable experience on the surface he has inexplicably neglected in the past 10 years (as a junior and a pro).

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Playing the challengers gives him more opportunities to get points compared to playing the Wimbledon qualies although the money is significantly less. Would still have made more sense to have delayed his comeback by one week but perhaps he calculated that his ranking would have been good enough to get in and he would not have needed the PR.

I am guessing the blob size is directly correlated to the sample size...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Yuki just behind Ferrer and just ahead of Monfils and Federer on this one parameter! Nice...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
As put in Wimbledon thread, Yuki missed out making the cut for Wimbledon qualies by just 1 spot.
This week he is back as India #1 just ahead of RamK being ranked at 219. However, the game of musical chairs will continue next week as with his 12 points from qualifying for Antalya ATP, RamK will get back the India #1 spot.
Anyway, with no points to defend till October Yuki is assured of getting into qualifying draw of US open and does not have to suffer same fate there as Wimbledon.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Yuki is 15th on the acceptance list for the Gatineaux Challenger in Canada (starting 15th July), and is also in the entry list for Granby the following week. I wish he had entered Newport instead, but that is too much to ask...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
In the best week of his career, Yuki is in the QF of the Citi Open in Washington DC, beating defending champion Gael Monfils 64 36 75 in R2, then knocking out Guido Pella 67 63 61 in R3. He had earlier qualified into the main draw.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Hopefully, Yuki will play the Vancouver Challenger next week (the last week before the US Open qualifiers). He needs to sustain his good form, and it would be useful to keep playing tournaments when he is in this sort of form.
Cincinnati looks a very long shot, as he may not even make it into the qualifying draw there.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
I saw a video of Yuki's interview after the Anderson match: he analysed his successes and failure well (particularly the fact that Anderson's serve bailed him out whenever Yuki created opportunities in the third set, and the early service break proved fatal), but I was surprised to hear his response to the question of what tournaments were in his plans (he said "Montreal and then the US Open", suggesting a distressing lack of real planning). I hope he doesn't skip the Vancouver Challenger simply because of a lack of planning. His name is in the list of alternates there.
