At the challenger 80 in Tiburon, CA, USA

[SF] (WC) Siddhant Banthia (IND)/ Carl Emil Overbeck (USA) l. Leandro Riedi (SUI)/ Valentin Vacherot (MON), 46 36

Still a good run and they made some $500 each for that.

Prize money earnings is bit misleading, the players eventually get credited to their accounts after deducting the local taxes which are applicable throughout Europe,Australia, USA.
It is only tax free places like Hong Kong, Bahrain, Dubai where the players get full prize money as specified on the tournament fact sheet.

And Jennifer lost to an 18 year old wildcard. 46 46 to Kyoka Kubo(JPN, NR/ITF-1980). Yikes.

8 Indian players played in qualifying of Thailand W25 but only top seed Sahaja Yamlapalli made it to the main draw. 3 close losses in super tie break in Q2- Humera Baharamus, Sanjana Sirimalla and Sravya Shivani.

So, we have 3 players in main draw-

At W25 Hua Hin, Thailand

[R1] (Q) Sahaja Yamlapalli (IND,564) vs. (WC) Salakthip Ounmuang (THA,NR)
[R1] Zeel Desai (IND,559) vs. Hong Yi Cody Wong Ho (HKG,427)
[R1] Sowjanya Bavisetti (IND,500) vs. Ekaterina Maklakova (RUS,438)

Yeah, a horrible day out there in Thailand. Five Indians were in the Q2 and only the top seed Sahaja Yamalapalli (IND,564) made the main draw, beating 11th seed Tamachan Momkoonthod (THA,1392), 62 76(5)... 17 year old 12th seed Sanjana Sirimalla (IND,1448) played very well and lost a tough one to 3rd seed Natalia Siedliska (GER,677), 26 63 [3-10]... 10th seed Soha sadiq (IND,1346) lost cheaply to Risa Ushijima (JPN,779), 26 16... 21 year old 7th seed Humera Baharmus (IND,880) lost in an upset by an unranked 18 year old, Jiale Zhang (never ranked even in the juniors, so it was truly a WTF loss!), 64 46 [10-12]... 22 year old 9th seed Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi played a close one but couldn't upset the 8th seed Hwiwon Wi (KOR,911), 46 63 [10-12].

Riya Bhatia is at the W25 in Florence, S.Carolina, USA.

After so many W15s, Monastir (TUN) is holding a big W60 this week. 4th seed Jennifer Luikham (IND,686) got upset in the Q1 by a former top-350 player... 06 26 to Julia Lohoff (GER,NR)... Bhuvana Kalva (IND,1917) also lost the Q1 listlessly, 16 06 to the 11th seed Maria Vittoria Viviani (ITA,1028). Horror shows there also from our ladies. I mean, they are hardly competitive these days against anybody decent from anywhere.

[R1] Sowjanya Bavisetti (IND,500) l. Ekaterina Maklakova (RUS,438), 16 16

Humera made it in as a lucky loser too, and faces Natalia Siedliska (GER,678)... By the way, what is with all those pathetic scorelines from everybody? Put up at least a fight, ladies?

Nice to see Sahaja continuing to progress steadily; having qualified in, she got a lucky break in R1 (playing a local WC) but the win is nonetheless well-earned.

(via ITD)

Sahaja pulls off an upset!

[R16](Q)Sahaja Yamlapalli(🇮🇳,562) d. (6)Peangtran Plipuech(🇹🇭,342) : 7-5 6-4

Edit: I missed the fact that the discussion moved to Sahaja's thread. I guess it is okay to leave the result here.

Sure. No problem. This is the place to post scores, but I thought some folks like me might be seeing Sahaja live for the first time and might leave comments on her game at her thread, so left the video link and match reports there (also because other Indians were all done at Hua Hin early in the week). Will continue match reports there for now, with the QF video link posted there. Starting now at 8:30 am IST, FRI.... Mod, Jay

At the M25 in Jakarta, INA, third seed Siddharth Rawat (IND,583) beat qualifier Ren Nakamura (JPN,1978) 64 61... At the M15 in Norman, OK, USA, Siddhanth Banthia (IND,1399) qualified in and won the R1 over Chad Kissel (USA,1452) 46 75 60... At the M15 in Al Zahra, KUW, Rishi Reddy (IND,1126) beat Fouad Behbehani (KUW,1702) 60 63 in the R1... I think they are the only Indian men alive in the singles draws of any pro event this week?

By the way, I noticed that Siddhanth had 9 aces (3 DFs) in his match today. Is he he a big enough server? I didn't know that he was the acing type. He is 5 ft 11.
