Close, tight match, but Rajeev goes down in the first round of the Calabasas Challenger in California... Considering Mamiit's rank around 100, great great effort from the youngster.

(3)Cecil Mamiit (USA) d. (WC)Rajeev Ram (USA) 6-7(2) 7-6(5) 6-2

I had hoped that this futures, supposedly the weakest in the history of ITF futures, due to the war situation there, would be a place where he could pick up some points. I guess that didn't work out..

Sunil Kumar is in the entry list for next week's $10K in Kuwait. He has been down with a shoulder problem but almost played this week at Delhi - deciding in the end not to use a wildcard which he might have got if he asked.

Here is the entry list top-10 for Kuwait (starting May 5)

CASSAIGNE Julien (404 FRA)
KLEC Ivo (483 GER)
SIPAEYA Sunil-Kumar (548 IND)
FLYGT Kalle (616 SWE)
GRUNES Christian (619 GER)
HOMMEL Sander (711 NED)
MAAMOUN Mohamed (736 EGY)
BARBU Adrian (785 ROM)
BAHROUZYAN Omar (865 UAE)
PUNNA Vishal (909 IND)

Weak list. Hopefully SKS can pick up some points (that is if he manages to get to Kuwait - there were a lot of withdrawals loast week).

I think you got pretty much all of them. I edited the Portugal one to Harsh (not Rohan) ... Thanks nkoth - good work as awalys.

I think Manisha returend to india from Japan last week due to the twisted knee. I think she must have withdrawn from Fukuoka. Unfortunate injury, but she has been injury- and illness-prone often in her career.

Whoops! Of course I knew that Harsh (and not Rohan) was playing the Portugal tourneys :tomato:

Good luck to everyone playing this week!

Kuwait first two round draws for our guys.

Top half:
(1)Julien Cassigne (FRA) vs Florin Mergea (ROM)
Vishal Punna (IND) vs (q)Horia Tecau (ROM)
Bottom half:
(q)Hamed Al Solaiteen (KUW) vs (q)Markus Egger (AUT)
(3)Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (IND) vs (WC)Ali Sherif (UAE)

Sunil should not take Markus Egger for granted in the second round (assuming they both will win) .. Vishal ends up with the same guy he lost to last week ....

Jamaica F4 update.

Qualifying:
[Q1] Amod Wakalkar (IND) bye
[Q2] Amod Wakalkar (IND) d. Adam Valkin (RSA) 6-0 6-4
[Q3] (5) Scott Willinsky (JAM) vs Amod Wakalkar (IND)

And in the 1st round:
[R1] (WC) Ben Kronk (USA) vs (WC) Shantanu Dhaka (IND)

I wonder why Shantanu keeps getting wild card's week after week in these Jamaican futures?

Also, in the Portugal satellites, there are a few Indians entered in the qualies -- with Harsh of course in the main draw.

[Q1] Saurav Sukul (IND) bye
[Q1] Nishank Mishra (IND) bye
[Q1] (9) Saurav Panja (IND) bye

[Q2] (3) Jose Luis Lara (ESP) vs. Saurav Sukul (IND)
[Q2] Martim Manoel (POR) vs. Nishank Mishra (IND)
[Q2] Jorge Godinho (POR) vs. (9) Saurav Panja (IND)
