Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
The last time I saw Sid play he was a player in Somdev mould hitting loping top spin shots and retrieving a lot of balls but with no great weapons. He has to be really good in his retrieving ability for him to be a successful challenger level player at least unless he has added some weapons to his artillery.

OOPS!!! That's why my co-workers say, "No Tequila while working". I should have listened!vatsal323 wrote:Sid won the first set tiebreak Varmaji. Sid really raised his game and hit like some 4-5 winners in the first set TB. Was looking good to take the match then.
Thanks for waking me us, Vatsal

There are little more details from Kamesh in Hindu and on his facebook page -jaydeep wrote:Really don't know much about Nidhi ... She and her American partner lost in the first round of Citi open.

Luck smiles on Nidhi
Good to see a 17 year old getting to play a WTA tournament in doubles and putting up a decent fight. That should help her overall development.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
16 year old Jennifer Luikham has been playing few $10K ITF tournaments in Romania. She qualified for this week with an upset win over a ranked player this week and she lost in R1 last week after qualifying in. Great results for an Indian Junior player on European Clay.
$10,000 Bucharest, Romania
Qualifying Draw
Q1 W H2H vs MAIORANA, Giulia (ITA) 6-1 6-3
Q2 W H2H vs SAKI, Ariana (ROU) 6-4 6-2
Q3 W H2H vs IVAN, Ioana (ROU,1210) 6-2 6-3 - 33 to opponent - almost twice of her age.
Unfortunately she is drawn a seed in MD.
R1 [Q] Jennifer LUIKHAM (UNR) vs [8] Irina FETECAU (ROU,571)

At $10K ITF Women, Bucharest, Romania (clay)
[R1] (Q) Jennifer LUIKHAM (IND,UNR) l. (8) Irina FETECAU (ROM,573) 46 64 26
A loss but pretty decent performance by 16 year old Jennifer against a local seed. She appears to be a talented player and someone to watch out for. From the last name appears to be North east, if I am not wrong.

Good job by Arjun beating the Johnson brothers(twins like the Bryans)! Now one more win to earn an ATP ranking point.
