Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

Post by bujilover »

Ramya Natarajan for the second consecutive week has reached the QFs (lost in the SF last week) of the $15K Korea ITF.

Today she had a lucky outing against the 8th seed when her opponent retired after leading 6-4 0-5 in the second round. In the QF, Ramya will play an unseeded Japanese (#1172) that upset the top seed. GO RAMYA!!

(I don’t have access to a computer, hence can’t post scores).

Ramya wins a thriller 1-6 6-3 7-6 in the QF to move into the semis where she will face a 16 yo Korean wildcard (#75 junior). (Still don’t have a computer to post the results in actual format and it’s too much work via mobile phone :D ). GO RAMYA!! :goodluck:

Thanks Dinesh for the updates. It is nice to see Ramya make the SF for the second week in a row -- yes, she got a break in R2 but one needs such breaks every once in a while. Ramya has finally re-entered the WTA rankings. She should enter the top 1000 with this week's performance (she's at 962 in the live rankings as India's 12th ranked player).

The British player is a product of Andy Murray’s management company. Aidan is a tough one to beat.

2 Indians are thru to the QF at 25K futures in Cameron.

At $25K Cameroon F1 Futures,Yaounde

[R1] (Q) Jatin DAHIYA (IND,1558) d. (WC) Cedric WOUOBONG NGOUMTSA (CMR,NR) 62 76(4)
[R1] (LL) Sai Saran Reddy BYREDDY (IND,NR) d. (Q) Arpit SHARMA (IND,NR) 64 57 63
[R1] Kunal ANAND (IND,1026) d. (3) Takanyi GARANGANGA (ZIM,452) 76(4) 63

[R2] (Q) Jatin DAHIYA (IND,1558) d. (LL) Sai Saran Reddy BYREDDY (IND,NR) 63 46 62
[R2] Kunal ANAND (IND,1026) d. Diego MATOS (BRA,1271) 62 67(6) 76(5)

Kunal had a very good win in first round. This is a very weak 25K tournament. More Indians should have played here.

Next,

[QF] (Q) Jatin DAHIYA (IND,1558) vs. (LL) Igor SAO THIAGO (BRA,1621)

[QF] Kunal ANAND (IND,1026) vs. (8) Skander MANSOURI (TUN,863)

Both Indians lost in the QF.

At $25K Cameroon F1 Futures,Yaounde

[QF] (Q) Jatin DAHIYA (IND,1558) l. (LL) Igor SAO THIAGO (BRA,1621) 16 61 36

[QF] Kunal ANAND (IND,1026) l. (8) Skander MANSOURI (TUN,863) 46 16

Still they got some decent points which will help them in new ITF rankings to get into transition tour events next year.
