You get €10k just to appear for the qualies. Why not? None of us are giving Yuki that money. So when may well earn it.

Yes, of course he should play it. What we are saying is if he had played at least a couple of matches on singles on clay, he would have had a better chance to convert that €10k to €16K and maybe more by winning matches in qualies.

I think he doesn't see that as realistically possible. He understands he body best. Playing doubles is helping him do away with the rustiness without hurting his body. Then maybe be one day (i guess us challenger season), IF his body with stood the pressures of the game, he will start playing challengers again.
