Great job Rishi on your win. :bounce:

Translation of article on Rishi's win in the Dainik Jagran.

Rishi Shridhar disposed of the Strong title-contender Michail Elgin was beaten in just 43 minutes. In the first set serving well Rishi broke Mikhail in the second and fourth games to take a 5-0 lead. After the first set the Sridhar magic continued and he broke Mikhail in the first and third games totake a commanding lead and then closed out the match.

Mikhail, who is used to playing on hardcourts was quite frustrated with the slow bounce of the grass courts at the Gymkahna club The ball's were keeping quite low after the service as a result Mikhail was not able to play his shots. Sridhar used the correct strategy/skill on this court and produced a shocking victory. After beating Bhupathi at the Tata Open qualies Rishi was full of confidence and pulled off this astonishing upset.

PS: I have copied another smilie  and added it to the forum. I can think of lots of place where it can be used :)

Harsh Mankad's run in the Lucknow Futures came to an end in the semifinal. He lost in 3 sets. Hope he and the other Indian players do better in the next Futures tournaments.

Yes, he had a few chances to win but couldn't quite close it out.
From the HINDU newspaper
Harsh could still have had the last laugh, despite the changed strategy, but for missing three breakpoints in the ninth game of the decider, when the Bulgarian was facing defeat at 0-40. While the 492nd ranked Enev struck a winner to save one breakpoint, the 560th ranked Indian made two tame returns into the net to scotch his chances.

Thereafter, it looked a lost cause as Harsh panted for breath on a bright afternoon, and failed to avail of three gamepoints to force the tie-break in the 12th game. Enev converted his first matchpoint, set up with a volley, with a good return that saw Harsh rush back and make a hurried shot into the net.
This is one of the reasons why I had written a couple of posts on the old board saying that we need better competition at home in India at these futures somehow. The increase in points on offer has done that and now our players are getting a fairer test of their skills.

Enev is a 20 year old and so an upcoming player as well. Indian players need to play these tournaments so that they get experience with upcoming players in the top 300-400 rather than journeymen in the 600-800 range which is what most of the players in the older tournaments used to be.
