Re: European Challengers 2023
Ram & Sumit lost, and that is why never took Pune or then Chennai form seriously.
Not surprised with these results as both of them are simply playing as per their present day ranking, and Ram's game increasingly looking doubles centric, playing for short quick points, point construction is amiss, and could convert only 1 of the 9 BP's he got while for his opponent had lesser BP's , but conversion was 100% in all 3 of them.

Re: European Challengers 2023
Sumit is really struggling to close out matches. He won exactly the same number of points as his #338 opponent but ended up losing. Hopefully, he’ll start winning some matches soon.

Scores in those losses-
At Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve Challenger, Belgium (Hard)
[Q1] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,414) l. (2) Jpris De Loore (BEL,219) 67(5) 16
[Q1] Sumit Nagal (IND,503) l. (10) Gauthier Onclin (BEl,338) 26 62 57
As Arjun said, this is third consecutive match this year which Sumit has lost in a close third set. 46 in third set in Pune ATP and 57 in third set both in Thailand and here. He needs to turn this around soon.

Re: European Challengers 2023
Actually he was looking quite fine for several events after returning from surgery. The real problems started in that south american event where he lost and we then heard that he had just caught Covid. It sounded like Covid came and went, and he was back on court in a few days. We didn't think Covid would be any issue at his age. But things have not been the same since. I wonder if some sort of long-Covid issue is causing a stamina problem?

Re: European Challengers 2023
I just looked at his record for last year and he has gone 1-7 in 3 setters last year since he came from injury in April and now 3 straight 3 set losses this year makes it 1-10 since he returned from injury. That is a real problem. His weak serve is one the reasons he is not getting easy service games and he is not able to close out matches but other than must be some mental aspect in closing out. Maybe some fitness issue too as last week he was barely able to move towards end of the match 2 weeks back in Nothanburi. Maybe mix of mental and physical thing but he will need to sort out if he has to rise up the rankings again.

Anirudh at a new career high of 183 in the live doubles rankings. Arjun slowly climbing back, now at 150. (Saketh is at 79, below his CH of 74, Ramkumar at 89, Yuki at a career doubles high of 90, Balaji at a career high of 93, the same points as Jeevan who is shown at 94, well below his CH of 64. Rohan is 17th; none of the top-10 in doubles live rankings made it past the QF of the AO).

Re: European Challengers 2023
Terrific couple of wins for Arjun/Anirudh. Particularly good win over Albot/Sitak, a very strong pairing on paper.

They lost in the final against top seeds.
At Quimper Challenger 125, France
[F] Arjun Kadhe (IND) / Aniruddh Chandrashekhar (IND) l. (1) Sadio Doumbia (FRA) / Fabien Reboul (FRA) 26 46
Still great run by them at this big challenger. Aniruddh is now at a career high of 170 in rankings while Arjun is at 146, still a little below his career high of 133.
