Just saw the qualifying draw for the Delhi M15 at the ITF site... Madhvin Kamath is the top seed, so others above him in the list Sameer posted above must have made the main draw list.

48 players for three rounds of qualies for 6 spots... 46 Indians and two Koreans who are the 2nd and 5th seeds. 8th seed Chirag Duhan is the highest ranked among the 18 year olds starting out... Denim Yadav has got a wildcard but he did not look great in his final year in the juniors (like Aman Dahiya the junior exempt entry to the main draw). I am not sure where 18 year old Nishant Dabas, who was one young guy I was looking for. Did he get a main draw wildcard or something? (I doubt it)... 16 year old Aryan Shah is also there, but it is probably a bit too early to expect much from him.

One very young player in the main draw direct entry list that I would be thrilled to see do well, is 19 year old Karan Singh - who is the highest ranked 19-and-under player from India.

No big surprises in the Q1 matches on Saturday in Delhi. All but the 6th seed out of the 12 seeds advanced to Q2... 8th seed, 18 year old Chirag Duhan got taken to the distance by 37 year old veteran VM Ranjeet before advancing, 61 16 [10-3]...

Nice upset by 17 year old Aryan Shah at the Delhi Q2 today. He took out the 5th seeded Woobin Shin (KOR,1862) by a 63 52 (Ret.) score. Woobin Shin is an 18 year old who was ranked as high as #43 in the juniors earlier this year and one of the top juniors in Asia. Somebody should tell the Korean kid's advisors that retiring with one game to go in the match and denying the opponent a clean win is just not right. I mean, Aryan was on top of him pretty much all through the match and it is probably not some injury during the match that caused the loss.

19 year old Dhruv Hirpara (who was one of those guys whose junior years got messed up by the pandemic, but had won the J5 in Bhilai last year) upset the third seed Yash Chaurasia 64 76.

I am mostly focused on the young players at these futures in India, to see where the next spark might come from.

True, senior players like Manish or SD Prajwal Dev or Digivijay etc doing well here is not much to talk about at least this week's M15 ones. Maybe at M25 ones for the next 2 weeks where the field of foreign players get much tougher it will be more worthwhile seniors also do well and also give much more points in later stages.

And the other foreigner in the qualifying draw, 2nd seed, 20 year old Junhyun Lee (KOR,1635) just got upset 63 61 by a Manish Ganesh. I guess in Delhi we can do to Koreans what they do to us in Seoul. Never heard of this 21 year old Manish Ganesh, but he is in the final qualifying round! Nice. So all 6 qualifiers will be Indians tomorrow.

I was hoping to see Nishant Dabas playing here. But he isn't in the main draw either. Where is he? He has not played anywhere since July.

It was nice to see all 3 or 4 of the 20-and-under players I wanted to see qualifying in, do just that. Aryan, Chirag, Madhvin. Just because he is only 20, I wanted Rohan Mehra to do it too, though I didn't know much about him. But he has played quite well in the recent months (qualified into two M15s in Israel, got a main draw win and ran a top-600 player closely, etc). I find that he had some J5 titles back in 2018 or so. One of those guys who couldn't play the final year or two of his juniors and got messed up a bit by the pandemic, I think.

But the main draw was not kind not Aryan. He gets the 5th seed Florent Bax of France. Chirag got the best match-cup, against unranked Oges Theyjo Jayaprakash (who really had no business getting a wildcard).

Good to see Madhvin and Chirag advance. I take back the dismissive line on Oges Theyjo. He made Chirag pull a Howdini act in that 63 57 16 loss, and justified the wildcard he got.

Also happy to see our highest ranked 19 year old, Karan Singh, advance with a good win over Dalwinder Singh.

Delhi M15 Second round:

(1) Oliver Crawford (USA) d. (WC) Shivank Bhatnagar (IND), 61 62
Siddharth Vishwakarma (IND) d. (Q) Madhwin Kamath (IND), 60 16 63
(4) Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND) d. Vishnu Vardhan (IND), 75 62
(5) Florent Bax (FRA) d. Ryuki Matsuda (JPN), 61 36 63
Faisal Qamar (IND) d. (Q) Lakshit Sood (IND), 75 76(5)
(3) Digvijay Pratap Singh (IND) d. (Q) Chirag Duhan (IND), 64 63
(7) Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha (IND) d. Nicholas Bybel (USA), 76(1) 26 75
Karan Singh (IND) d. (2) Manish Sureshkumar (IND), 75 64

There is my boy Karan Singh with a big straight sets upset of second seeded Manish! And Niki takes out the American too, so we are assured of an Indian in the final from the bottom half. Nitin took care of business against Vishnu who is never an easy opponent. Chirag's and Madvin's runs ended. The top seed Crawford seems to be in good form; he must not have got the Delhi Belly that Americans are supposed to get in India :)

Out of the 6 Indians in the QF, Nitin and Faisal are 23, Digvijay is 22, Karan is 19... Only Siddharth at 28 and Niki at 27 are older players. Good to see a decent group of younger players in the QFs. Niki versus Karan should be a good one tomorrow.

Quarterfinals:

(1) Oliver Crawford (USA) d. Siddharth Vishwakarma (IND), 76(4) 64
(5) Florent Bax (FRA) d. (4) Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND), 63 60
(3) Digvijay Pratap Singh (IND) d. Faisal Qamar (IND), 61 61
(7) Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha (IND) d. Karan Singh (IND), 64 62

So it will be the 2021 Finesta Nationals winner Niki and runner-up Digvijay in one semifinal. Can't say who will win. I like Niki, and maybe he has a slight edge, but I will root for Digvijay simply because he is 5 years younger at 22 :) ... Glad to see that he is improving.

Siddharth Vishwakarma gave a big fight to the top seed. He was down 1-4 in the second but fought back to 4-4, and even had a break point there before Oliver held and broke him to finish the match. SV seems to have improved a bit? He is older at 28 though. Disappointed that Nitin didn't play better than he did.

I still have some hope that Digvijay can at least become 200-300 challenger level player. Watched him play a very competitive 3 set final against Vietmanese #1 Ly ( who is now in top 250) in Vietnam futures in June. He did seem to have a big game.

So, want to win his SF against Niki but will be a tough match as Niki has been playing well of late.
