W25 Nottingham ITF starts next week. Ankita and Rutuja are in the main draw. Humera Baharmus has made it to the qualifying draw list.

Ankita (#131) is partnering Aussie Alexandra Osborne (#308), Rutuja (#248) with Nagi Hanatani (#398). Good luck to our players!

There are 4 such 25K tournaments in Great Britain starting with this week with a week break after 2 tournaments. Ankita and Humera are also in the entry list for next week but Rutuja moves to 60K in Spain next week.

Humera lost in the first round of qualifying. Today, Rutuja lost in first round of main draw but Ankita had a good comeback win.

[R1] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,432) l. Haruka Kaji (JPN,545) 46 46

[R1] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,340) d. Fang Ying Xun (CHN,564) 46 76(4) 60

Fang was ranked in top 200 only a couple of years back and had a 3-1 head to head against Ankita before this match. So, it is good that Ankita won against her after losing the first set.

She plays another Chinese next.

[R2] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,340) vs. Xinyu Gao (CHN,441)

Gao beat Ankita 7-5 in third set in Thailand last month in their only match-up before, a tournament which the Chinese won and she is on a 13 match winning streak now. So, it will be tough for Ankita against an in-form player.

Ankita beats the in-form Chinese player to reach QF. :D

[R2] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,340) 3-6 6-1 6-3 Xinyu Gao (CHN,441)

She will play 19yo Amarni Banks (WTA #1526) next.

Doubles: Ankita (w/Osborne) lost in the first round. Rutuja (w/ Hanatani) won the first round and play their QF today.

That’s so sad. Ankita has no business losing like this.

Rutuja lost after winning the first set against third seed.

At the W25 Ourense - Pereiro de Aguiar, Spain (Hard)

[R2] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,430) l. (3) Yvonne Cavelle-Reimers (ESP,277) 75 57 26

Rutuja is back at the level of her career high ranking of 342 looks like and will reach there shortly if she keeps playing like this. For moving further up, needs to get upsets in the matches like today's.

I think we have discussed Naiktha earlier here in Indian origin players thread. She reached a career high of top 200 in 2020. But, seems to have fallen back post covid break and looks to have to reached QF after long time. Hope Ankita stops her progress there though.
