Vaidehi lost in the final against her Thai opponent.

[F] Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND,864) l. Punnin Kovapitukted (THA,836) 16 26

Sad that in first 2 weeks maximum advantage of these home tournaments is being taken by only 2 good foreign players who were in the field.

True. But Vaidehi has definitely made a breakthrough during these two weeks.

Quarter final results at Ahmedabad-

[QF] (1) Zeel DESAI (IND,600) d. Shreya Tatavarti (IND,1487) 62 64
[QF] Shrivalli Rashmikaa BHAMIDIPATY (IND,1020) d. (4) Punnin KOVAPITUKTED (THA,803) 46 62 61
[QF] (3) Emily SEIBOLD (GER,754) d. (5) Vaidehi CHAUDHARI (IND,831) 75 60
[QF] Akanksha Dileep NITTURE (IND,1325) d. (Q) Yubarani BANERJEE (IND,1591) 75 64

Excellent upset win by Shrivalli over last week's winner and fourth seeded Thai player. So, our players have eliminated second and fourth seeded foreign winners of last 2 weeks before semi finals. German third seed remains a thorn for an Indian title.

I am guessing Zeel might be getting a little tired having played a lot of matches in last 3 weeks- Final in first week, SF in second week and now another SF. So, calling for another upset by Shrivalli. Hope Akaskhsha also gets another upset.

One sided loss for Zeel in the final though.

[F] (1) Zeel DESAI (IND,600) l. (3) Emily SEIBOLD (GER,754) 26 16

Indian players have reached finals in this series but titles keep going foreign players way. A Russian, a Thai and a German have won the titles in 3 weeks. Zeel getting beaten in final in 2 of the weeks, Vaidehi in 1 week.

Zeel lost against German last week champion by Sahaja Yamlapalli makes it to her first ITF final.

[SF] (1) Zeel DESAI (IND,585) l. (3) Emily SEIBOLD (GER,750) 46 26

[SF] Sahaja YAMALAPALLI (IND,1293) d. ] (2) Anna UREKE (RUS,651) 63 30 retd.

Zeel was top seed in all 4 weeks but lost in Semi finals in 2 weeks and in final in other 2. Don't think satisfactory performance on home courts.

Yes, it has been a disappointing four weeks for Zeel. However, we saw several players benefit by going deeper than before which makes this ITF series a moderate success. Ideally, we should have won at least two of the four weeks.

And finally an Indian winning singles title as German retired in her final in the first set.

[F] Sahaja YAMALAPALLI (IND,1293) d. (3) Emily SEIBOLD (GER,750) 65 retd.

A bit lucky for her as German was playing her 10th match in 2 weeks but still great week for Sahaja Yamlapalli to win her first ITF title.
