A tough draw for Sania and Nadiia, who are facing Slovenian pair ... If they wins then they will face winner between Simona Halep/ Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Andrea Petkovic/ Cristian ... In the third round, winner will play most probably against 6th seed Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos.

[R1] (12) Sania Mirza (IND)/ Nadiia Kichenok (UKR) vs Kaja Juvan (SLO)/ Tamara Zidansek (SLO)

Bops and Sania lose in their respective 1R matches in doubles. So we are still to get a victory in MD.
Now Indian challenge is left only in mixed doubles.
Sania is paired with defending champ Rajiv Ram, so more hopes on her.

[R1] Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Edouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA) l. (WC) Treat Huey (PHI)/ Christopher Rungkat (PHI) 63 67(2) 26

[R1] (12) Sania Mirza (IND)/ Nadiia Kichenok (UKR) l. Kaja Juvan (SLO)/ Tamara Zidansek (SLO) 46 67(5)

Quite disappointing results. Our doubles successes at slams are now on the wane and if this continues we will have no representation left in doubles in slams. :-(

Unless or until RamK and Yuki take doubles seriously, I guess this is the truth :( ...

They should not drop singles just yet (RamK for sure) but should remember that there is still a lot of money to be made in doubles for several years with the skills they have!

If the seeding holds, and it does almost never hold perfectly, then it will be: Monfils v Berrettini, Zverev v Nadal, Sinner v Tsitsipas, and Medvedev v Auger-Aliassime. The "Big 3" (Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev) among the top-4 seeds are holding their own. Zverev v Nadal will be interesting. As PKB said, Monfils is gaining, perhaps along with Berrettini from the Djokovic withdrawal.

On the women's side, we will have Barti v. Sakkari, Keys v. Krejcikova, Mertens v Halep, Swaitek v Sabalenka.

Let the upsets begin. :-)

Sania Mirza/Rajeev Ram are though to the Quarterfinals of the Mixed.
They play a local wild card team next. Chance to be in the Semifinals!!
Shapovalov just beat Zverev in straight sets to take out a big seed.
Nadal vs. Shapo will be a great QF match.

On the mens side, that QF line up almost made it - 7 out 8- only Shapavalov upset Zverev- Zverev continues to underperform at slams.

On Womens side, Sakkari, Halep and Sabalenka all lost to lower ranked players.

So,mens side has more favourites making it thru but overall mens side has only 2 left who have won slams earlier- Nadal and Medvedev, Womens side has 3- Barti, Krajilkova and Swatiek.

Approximately, I have seen men's seeds holding a lot more than women's seed for years.

So now, for the women's, it is (with the higher seed listed first): Barti v. Pegula, Krejcikova v. Keys, Collins v. Cornet, and Swaitek v. Kanepi. Let's see.

Except the local wildcard team beat them to it, in straight sets.

Medevdev comes from 2 sets down to beat Auger-Aliassime in 5 sets.

So, in mens it is Nadal v Berrettini, Medvedev v Tsitsipas in SF. 4 out of top 6 who were playing here made it thru here. It can be anyone's title I think.

In Women, it is Barty v Keys, Collins vs Swatiek, only Barty was expected to make it here. She is the favorite I think.

It's an all-Australian men's doubles final at this year's AO. Rajeev Ram/Salisbury lost to Ebden/Purcells, while Kyrgios/Kokkinakis beat Granollers/Zeballos. Both Aussie pairs were unseeded.

I watched the FAA vs Medvedev match. It was dispiriting to see how FAA failed to adjust his strokes marginally after the roof was closed (at 1-2 in the third set tiebreak). The same killer forehand and down-the-line backhands began to sail marginally long after the roof had closed. Of course, it was perhaps also a matter of confidence. Daniil ate away at the young man's self-belief as the match wore on. Very impressive player, FAA, but temperament for the big matches needs to be honed further.

After bagging the USO junior dbls title, Hong Kong's Coleman Wong is on track for his second GS title where he has reached the dbls FInals .
One of the best exciting Junior talent to have emerged from Hong Kong and is heavily involved at the Rafa Nadal academy, and when in Hong Kong works out with Karan.

Is Nadal going to inch ahead of Federer tomorrow (or rather today) ?

Nadal Medvedev finals coming up! Medvedev should be the favorite, but Nadal will be the crowd favorite

Ash Barty catches up with Osaka as this gen's most slam titles: 3! With Osaka who knows. The game is there but it is about the mind.
