Bops holds serve from 0-30 down for 3-3 and they get the first break of the match to lead 4-3.

But, Divij gets broken right back at love for 4-4. His serve is the weak link.

I am waiting for the story to break where we find out that Divij and Virat are long lost brothers. Bops's volleying is so rusty. Might as well stay back because the low balls at the net are just killing him.

I'd look at what his partner is doing rather than say it's just the serve.

I am optimistic about their chances after the match today. They played really well and didn't get broken. Complimented each other really well and seemed to be having a ball. Not going to jinx it by making any predictions.

Damn, Bops and Divij missed 6 bp chances in next game and opponents hold after a 10 min game for 5-4. Bops will be serving to stay in the match.

And, he could not.

[R1} Rohan Bopanna (IND) /Divij Sharan (IND) l. 11-Edouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA) /Henri Kontinen (FIN) 67(6) 46

You are right, SKS. Bops was so tentative on volleys and in fact Divij was good in volleying and returns. I only meant to say that Divij does not get too many free points on serve and therefore, his serve remains under threat all the time.

Disapponting loss. They could have done with it being best of 5. Glimpses of what they could have done but the other team were more match sharp.

The other problem was, Rohan overdoes the "you" screaming in between cruicial points, not only it unsettles mentally the partner, that now Rohan has washed his hands off, and onus is now completely on him, but it also disturbs the focus when "you" is yelled out frequently.

dbls is chemistry ,53 in S1, Two overheads which Divij couldn't close out, surely Divij had common sense that overheads were his, but both the times Rohan loudly yelled "you" putting his partner under undue pressure at the most crucial moment of the match.

Perhaps they should switch to calling “mine’ then.

If all Rohan was doing well was serving and yelling "you", then may be the best match strategy was for him to serve, yell "you" and then go sit down by the side of the court till the point was over. 😋

Btw, I have this impression that Indian players tend to yell "you" more than any other players. Haven't counted but I just seem to notice it more.

:bounce: Ankita and Ramkumar makes it to the Xd doubles and now play Bopanna/Mirza. I’m excited for this match, even though only one of our pair will advance.
