Ankita lost in straught sets.

At WTA 250 Nottingham Open

[R1] (Q) Ankita Raina (IND,183) l. Catherine Mcnally (USA,110) 46 36

She fought hard but did seem to have some injury issues as she took medical timeout in second set. Mcnallly was also pretty solid thru the match.

Prajnesh retires from his R1 match after losing S1 06, something serious must be ailing him.

At this strong Nottingham 2 with 16 players in Top 125 range , Prajnesh has made the MD, but considering his performance yesterday , not sure how he is feeling mentally/physically going into the last tournament before the Wimby qualies.
Ram meanwhile will have to play the waiting game to know whether he would eventually make the quali draw, as he is 12 out in the quali Alt list.

Ankita with her German partner Julia won their first round doubles in 3 sets against Naiktha Bains and Samantha Murray Sharan. They will play the 4th seeds Kaityln Christian and Nao Hibino in the next round. :goodluck:

IIRC, this is Ankita’s first win in the main draw of a WTA after her maiden title triumph in Australia.

Ramkumar partnering Frenchman Antoine Hoang upset the top seeds at the Nottingham CH in the match tie break. His serves were impeccable today. Good win!

Another first round loss for Divij.

At Stuttgart ATP 250, Germany (Grass)

[R1] Divij Sharan (IND) / Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO) l. Ariel Behar (ISR) / Gonzalo Escobar (ECU) 26 46

Divij has played with 10 different partners this year. No wonder the losing sequence continues.

He will be his 11th partner for next 3 weeks - Rohan Bopanna for 3 grass tournaments including Wimbeldon.

Yuki is out of Wimbledon. Or is this old news? Perhaps we will see him for the USO series?

Ankita and Julia are through to the semifinals of the WTA Nottingham Doubles by virtue of a walkover from their QF opponents. They play the second seeds Caroline Dolehide and Storm Sanders in the semis. A pretty tough match!

Ram went down in dbls 57 36, on paper a straightforward loss, but at 53 40-15 in the opening set, the Frenchman 2 feet away from the net,put the simplest overhead in the net , than got broken to let go the set and thereafter completely lost the momentum, Antoine again got broken in S2, until that horrendous miss, this pairing looked very cohesive and promissing as shown by taking out the topseeds and rest of the 2 matches.

Meanwhile he(Ram) has just made the quali's cut for next week after a long wait.

Ankita and her partner lost in the doubles semi final.

At Viking Open Nottinghan WTA 250 (Grass)

[SF] Ankita Raina (IND) / Julia Wachaczyk (GER) l. (2) Caroline Dolehide (USA) / Storm Sanders (AUS) 46 67(4)

Ankita will be in the qualies draw of ITF W100+H next week in Nottingham too. Looks to be a tough field there with Ankita will not be even seeded in qualies.

RamK will be in the mens 100K challenger qualies there.

The first qualifying round for both will be tomorrow.

From the usually known fixed 9 to 11, Challengers,ATP,GS Grass Courts tournaments for Men during the 7 week window, it is quite very pleasing to notice an  ITF M15 at Gaiba Italy is also being held on Grass.

And predictably a Zimbabwean ,Benjamin Lock who like the Black brothers in all probability might have spent his formative years playing on grass courts in their own backyard's has reached the Finals.
