RDU, for the uninitiated (including me), is Raleigh-Durham, or the Research Triangle area in North Carolina that includes NC State, Duke University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. (Yuki, if he is planning to visit Sanaa, needs to pay for an air or bus ticket, but otherwise he will have free accommodation, and hopefully access to fitness facilities and tennis courts.prasen9 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 4:38 pm She is in the RDU area as a marketing manager at Cisco. Sanaa's LinkedIn. So, not really free housing there but maybe a visit.

Yuki can’t have access to gyms in the universities, or for that matter, even a Cisco gym as he’s not a student/ employee at those places. There may be tennis clubs that may give him special access or even the universities may do so. Cisco will not.

Prajnesh playes Ebden today ( Tuesday) at around 11.30/12 local time- around 9/9.30 pm India time.Ebden has been up pretty good form this year beating 2 top 40 players and a couple more in top 100. So, this will be tough match for Prajnesh getting back after a month's break.
Jeevan- Bala play their first round match later. Jeevan is playing first time after more than a year.

There is still some time for Prajnesh match to begin. But, our friend Zane Khan has got a wild card here and is playing his first round match right now. Will be worth following him particularly if he has any Indian roots.
He is up 4-3 on serve in the first set against #315 Kevin King.

PG up a break in the first set serving 4-3. Go Prajnesh!
Prajnesh lost that game as I was typing that, but Ebden’s DF on a 0-40 game put PG on top again serving for the first set at 5-4. Prajnesh seals the first set.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran leads Matt Ebden 6-4. Ebden had 4 doubles faults in this set.

Ebden seems to be complaining about his racket. Not sure why. He used some foul language and the ump called him on that. I heard him say his racket was like a ping pong bat.
PG needs to close this one out quickly. Ebden is a good player.

That is a mighty impressive win. Ebden made the semifinals at the ATP Marseille on hard courts last month, beating #21 Karen Khachanov in the QF (having qualified in). And in Singapore, after beating Yuki, Ebden beat #39 John Millman 64 61. So he has been a bit inconsistent, but Ebden is far from done as a top-level singles player.
Now I hope he puts his best foot forward for the doubles!!

Prajnesh has a tough task ahead facing Jack Sock in R2. Of course, PG beat him last year in 3 sets at the Cary challenger, but I hope he’s able to continue the same form on Thursday.

It's not the old Sock it seems. This one seems to have a lot of holes. Did well for a season, even won the Paris Masters, won doubles Grand Slams IIRC and then suddenly disappeared from the main circuit, including doubles. I guess no one wanted to play with one Sock.

Jeevan/Balaji (4th seeds) lost in R1 after taking the first set via a TB. The STB was a titanic battle before they succumbed 16-18.

Watching Yuki and Ebden play their R1 doubles. They were an early break down but broke back when their opponents were serving for the set at 5-4. And then won the tie break 7-5 to take the first set.
