I will breathe easy only after his racket's strings hit the ball and make it go across the net, in an official match with the umpire in the chair having called "Time" after the warm-up :)

But Go Yuki!!! We are still here, rooting for you. Never gave up on you.

What might happen is that people who think they will not make the tournament enter elsewhere. Now when the bottom falls a little, it falls a lot because all those people are now stuck elsewhere. So, perhaps it goes down to people who did not want to travel to the other tournament or would not have made it in the other tournament either and Singapore was easier to travel to, etc. In this way, there is an avalanche effect and some people ranked quite low make it in.

Oh, and covid.

42 year old Japanese Matsui, ranked 804 in the world is one spot away from entering the Q draw.
He got into qualies. I really wished some of our lower ranked players would have goen for qualies there. Prize money of $1295 for just appearing in qualies. Should make up more than ait ticket to Singapore and other related costs and if they get a win or two it is even better.

But, Mukund, Sid Rawat, Manish Sureshkumar are in Egypt, Arjun was in South Africa. Saketh was the only one among top our top 10 not entered anywhere next week it seems. He could have made the trip to Singapore but I guess it was too late to make plans for this.

Daniil Medvedev seems to have turned down the wildcard, so it has been offered to Aslan Karatsev :p

Purav Raja/Ramkumar Ramanathan are the highest-ranked unseeded pair. One more withdrawal and they might be seeded! But Purav is sitting in India (I presume) providing commentary on Sony Sports India. (Of course, it is possible that the commentary studio is in Singapore, but it seems unlikely during the pandemic...).

I wonder who they are going to give the wildcards to! Singapore has no men in the top-1000. Some good juniors among my friends' children, but none of them are old enough to play regularly on the international junior circuit. They will probably have to liberally hand out main draw wildcards to any Asian players available. And qualifying wildcards to anyone who walks in.

Indoors, Rohan could be quite competitive. He should go for a serve-fest -- classic serve-volley.

There is a tweet showing Sasha Zverev and Dimitrov alongside the Singapore ATP: I wonder whether they were offered wildcards.

RB's section of the singles qualifying draw:

3-Christopher Eubanks (USA, 239) vs Alt-Rohan Bopanna (IND, UNR)
Fabrizio Ornago (ITA, 405) vs. 7-Alessandro Bega (ITA, 350)

Rohan needs to beat Eubanks and an Italian (Futures level player) to make the singles main draw.

Wish Leander was there. He would have loved to play some singles.

He played qualies and than main draw in Queens ATP in 2013 which was his last match on tour. Then, he also played Davis Cup dead rubber against Korea at Chandigarh in grass.

Rohan may go "yeah" after hitting some volleys into the alleys, and then wonder why the other guy is fist-pumping. But Go RB!!!
