Re: Australian Open 2021
I do not think there will be any LL draw at this stage. LL spots have not yet opened up. 6 highest ranked lucky losers will be allowed to travel to Australia so that they can complete their 14 day quarentine. They may or may not get to play.
Unfortunately Ankita is seventh in that waiting list. So, unless one of the top 6 refuse to travel, she does not have v e a chance. This is how I interpret it.

Re: Australian Open 2021
^^^No. Because that this AO involves 2-week mandatory quarantine, they are going to select 8 players that lost in FQR (preferably, based on their order of ranking) as potential alternates for the main draw since they want to have additional alternates. I’m reading this from the tennis forum!

Still, really a good performance by Ankita ... She will definitely going to play in the main-draw of grandslam in near future.

Re: Australian Open 2021
And now, Ysaline Bonaventure who is the top ranked loser from the FQR has posted on Instagram that she received a LL spot due to a player withdrawal. I don’t know what that means for the alternates list but Ankita is now the 6th alternate.

I really hope she gets to play in the main draw. She’s such a fighter and deserves it.

Re: Australian Open 2021
AITA has posted that Ankita is among the Lucky Losers who will get to travel to Australia -- and receive a minimum of US$10,000. There is a good chance she will get into the main draw.

Re: Australian Open 2021
That is great news but still Ankita will be mostly 6th in the list of lucky losers. So, she will need that many withdrawals to actually play in the main draw. That looks difficult but at least she should be able to play qualies of one of the 2 WTA tournaments which are being played in Australia ahead of Australian Open. So, tenniswise the trip won't be a total waste even if she does not get to play in the main draw.

Re: Australian Open 2021
Will still be great experience for her. To be there at a slam, to hit with the best, enjoy the perks, rub shoulders with the best - it's all stuff money cant buy. She has put the hard yakka in far flung places and deserves the break.

Yes, a good and deserving break for Ankita and in current pandemic situation, anything is possible.

Anything is possible even for Covid positive players. Badminton wasn’t the only one providing exemptions.

That is truly crazy. Tennys Sandgren was Covid-positive but still allowed to board the flight to Australia. I wonder whether his fellow-travellers were informed!
