Wow! That is amazing news. Presumably, since the AO couldn't hold the Asia-Pacific wildcard playoff this year, they picked the most deserving Asian player -- and surely, Sumit is that player! Congratulations to him.
Yes, he received the Asia Pacific wild card which usually goes to the playoff winner. There are 4 players ( including our own Prajnesh) who are ranked higher than Sumit among those outside main draw cut off for AO. But, none of them are aged below 25 and usually such wild cards are not awarded to older player. So, that may be the criteria where he got the main draw wild card. Good for him.

3 Indians in the women's singles qualifying draw according to Wikipedia -- with Pranjala Yadlapalli receiving a wildcard!! This is fabulous news. The Indian women can help each other, feed off each other's energy and momentum, and one or two will hopefully make the main draw.

Q1 match-ups for the Indian women:

WC-Pranjala Yadlapalli vs. Samantha Murray Sharan (GBR, 180; CH 165) :D
PR-Karman Kaur Thandi vs. Julia Grabher (AUT, 224; CH 198)
Ankita Raina (IND, 180; CH 160) vs. Isabella Sinikova (BUL, 201; CH 133)

I think all three have a reasonable chance of winning Q1. I've used the rankings shown for each player on Wikipedia. Ankita and Samantha can't both be ranked 180.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but why are the qualifying draws for the Aussie Open already posted when the matches won’t start for another 2 weeks?

Nothing is posted yet on AO official site. It is only on that wiki page. So, I doubt about authenticity of that news particularly since the draws are never announced so many days in advance.

All the qualifying wild cards were announced yesterday except one. So, it will be great if Pranjala gets one. Let's wait and watch.

Many odd things are happening during Covid, so I thought that the draw had been made early because the women's qualifying was perhaps being played a week earlier. But now the "draw" has been removed from the Wikipedia site -- so it was just someone creating a random draw. (That must be a first on Wiki..). Let us hope that the rumour about Pranjala getting a qualifying wildcard turns out to be correct.

The draws for the AO qualifying will be done today at noon UK time (i.e., about 2 hours from now), and the qualifying tournaments begin tomorrow.
The men's qualifying tournament is in Doha (Qatar) while the women's qualifying will be in Dubai. Two Indians playing in each place.

H2H the Argentinian leads 1-0 when he over came Ram in 2015 USO qualies, which went to 3 sets, while Praj has a 1-0 record over Schnur when he beat the Canadian in straight sets at the 2018 Bangalore Challenger

Ankita and RamK play their matches early tomorrow. Looks like Karman and Prajnesh will play their first round on Monday.

Ankita's match looks even one with Ankita being slight favorite, RamK looks the underdog against the Argentine.
