Ankita is 3 out right now. One hope was they give up on the Asian WC spot which was freed up after the Chinese player had to withdraw due to Covid. That would brought Ankita 1 spot nearer. But, they gave away that WC to another Australian player who was outside qualies.
Yastremska has been banned for doping but she has appealed against it. If she loses her appeal, Ankita will 1 spot ahead. But, will still need 2 withdrawals due to injury/illness to get in.

Looks difficult at this late stage. All these players have come here and stayed in 14 day quarentine. So, with all that sacrifice, I think they will turn up even if they are half fit.

But whoever is playing this week may not be that fit and someone or two can get injured and withdraw? Do they have this get half pay even if you withdraw in the AO too?

Kirsten Flipkens has withdrawn from Yarra Valley because of injury; if she withdraws from the AO too, Ankita will be 2 out of the main draw (or possibly 1 out, if Yastramska's appeal is rejected).

Zarina Diyas withdrew from the Gippsland Trophy singles draw due to Illness. So, that is another hope for Ankita.

Nao Hibino also withdrew due to injury, but you never know with these girls, sometimes they just want to preserve their strength so they don’t aggravate their minor issues for the big event. Nevertheless, here’s hoping Ankita makes it.

Shuai Zhang withdrew from the Yarra Valley classic singles draw after losing her first round doubles with Sam Stosur yesterday. Wonder if she’s injured or anything!

Dayana Yastremska’s appeal on the doping ban has been rejected by the CAS and as a result of it, she can’t play in the Australian open. If this doesn’t get Ankita automatically a LL spot now, I don’t know what else will. Keeping my eyes opened the next 24 hours since the draw will be posted 6 PM Melbourne time (Feb 4th).

I think even after the draw is done before the first-round is played, players can withdraw and be replaced right? I think she will make it.

If she is on site and signs up on the waiting list sheet, she can, even after the draw is made.

Yes, but the chances of that happening after these players have been put into a 14-day quarantine means, some of them would want to appear for the heck of it, cash money, and withdraw during the match.

Well, the draws are done and Ankita did not make it. All for nothing! Let’s hope one of the girls withdraw from a heat stroke from this week’s WTA tournaments.
