Ostapenko and Lee. Can you imagine the passion in that one? Might create a world record for the number of fist pumps in a match.

No , Ostepenko is still in a state of shock, and the celebration might be muted, she almost withdrew from AO, but changed her mind at the last minute , in order to divert her mind from the tragic loss of her father last week.

Sania and Kichenok gave up their first round match after losing the first set 2-6 due to calf injury to Sania. :-( This calf injury seemed to have affected her in Hobart final. She seemed to have just taken a chance here

Making a comeback from a long lay-off is tough, and Sania has just learnt that the hard way. Good to see Leander and Rohan still managing to get good MxD partners.

Sania did not look very fit. She needs more conditioning while the calf heals, and then more game time.

Divij-Sitak couldn't overcome the 10th seeds Pavic and Soares. 6-7 (2), 3-6

So only mixed doubles remains for the Indian campaign. Everything else over in week 1 itself.

Apart from mixed doubles, we have Dev Javia our only junior participating at the Australian open. Tomorrow, Dev ( ITF rank 60) will play his first round match against 50th ranked Italian Luca Nardi. Italian who at 16 is one year younger than Dev has played a lot more higher level events than him including US open juniors. So, looks a tough one for Dev Javia.

Dev Javia lost 36 36 against higher ranked Italian in the first round of junior boys. Watched his match. Dev does appear to have quite a good game, very good leftie serve, good forehand. Was just not consistent today compared to the Italian. Still if he gets good coaching and bulks up a bit, I think has good chance to become a good player in pros.

A couple of NRIs still alive at the AO this year. Rajeev Ram (with Salisbury) is in the men's doubles semifinal. And Astra Sharma (with JP Smith) is in the Mixed Doubles semifinal.
Of course RB too is still alive, yet to play his MxD QF against 5th seeds Mektic-Krejcikova.

Rajeev Ram won the Men's doubles title quite comfortably, as he and Salisbury beat the Aussie wildcards 64 62 in the final. So that's his second Slam title, following the AO MxD title from last year (he also made USO MxD final in 2016, soon after winning the silver at the Olympics). This year, it seems he skipped the MxD to concentrate on winning the Men's Doubles, and it has paid off handsomely for him.
