Re: Wimbledon 2019
I hate how these critics find it so easy take pot shots at the players when they are ploughing a lone field. How about criticising the mandarins at AITA living in their ivory towers with money that should be used to fund the game in the country? Rant over.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
A rant about irrelevant rants: Part (1) Literally, no one on this board is a fan of the AITA. Perhaps, many moons ago, there might have been some praise for Sunil Yajaman running an effective junior program but literally no one is fan of anything the AITA has done in recent times. Part (2) - Ranting about any perceived constructive comments on certain players while liberally criticizing others.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
Ankita lost 16 67(4) to Sabine Lisicki, the woman who came so close to winning the Wimbledon title in 2011 (losing to an inspired Marion Bartoli in the final). Lisicki seems to be gradually regaining form (although not yet a commensurate ranking, since she needed a wildcard to play the qualifiers), but Ankita couldn’t repeat her Surbiton triumph, sadly.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
Ramkumar had one great ATP tournament performance on grass in each of the past 2 years (Antalya in 2017, with a win over Thiem on the way to the QF) and Newport (making the singles final) last year. I hope he does well again at Newport. It’s a pity he couldn’t capitalise on the grass season this year. I wish he’d played the ATP tournaments (qualifiers) rather than Challengers. But yes, he does need a bit more consistency throughout the year, especially during the hard court season, to have a better seeding in the Slam qualifiers and be better positioned to make the main draw.

It wasn't aimed at you. You just happened to have posted before my post. An earlier post had quoted someone on Twitter which prompted my rant

Re: Wimbledon 2019
The singles main draw is out.
Prajnesh plays big serving Canadian Milos Raonic.
[R1] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,94) Vs (15) Milos Raonic (CAN,17)
Raonic was the finalist at Wimbledon in 2016, Prajnesh is unlikely to win. I hope he gets to play at one of the bigger show courts at least.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
Yes, a tough match for Prajnesh, but Milos Raonic also coming out of long injury break ... He missed all clay season and played last 2 weeks on the grass ... He had good results, with wins over Tsonga and Cecchinato ... If Prajnesh manages to take Raonic to the 5th set then anything can happen considering Raonic's fitness issue ... Tall ask

Re: Wimbledon 2019
Bummer of a draw for Prajnesh. Raonic is a beast on grass. He may have had some time away because of injury, but he is ready for the grass season.
Raonic made the SF in Stuttgart, and the QF at Queen’s. Prajnesh should just enjoy the experience of playing on one of Wimbledon’s show courts — and pounce on any injury-related opportunities/weaknesses he can spot in Raonic’s game.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
One day in our lifetime someone will have a long run in a slam. From an Indian perspective I look forward to non-slams more because at least our interest is usually kept for longer.

Re: Wimbledon 2019
So far Prajnesh is staying on course, matching Raonic stroke for stroke. It’s even at 4-4 in the first set, and the games are going fast!
