Shocking result from Ramkumar. What ails our grass star? (Perhaps these were played indoors rather than on grass, but that shouldn't have made this big a difference).

Ankita got in as a late Lucky Loser in the Nottingham WTA, but sadly lost to another LL:

Not good for RamK. Confidence takes time and hard work to build and retain. It will go down very fast with losses like these. Don’t know if he is having an injury problem, but if he is not 100% physically and mentally, he should take an extended break, fix the problems, and return only when ready.sameerph wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 12:08 pm Both lost in the second round.
At €137K+H Nottingham Challenger 2019, Great Britain
[R2] Saketh Myneni (IND,229) l. (10) Sabestian Oftner (GER,145) 46 57
[R2] (11) Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,147) l. Ruben Bemelmans (BEL,185) 16 06
Tame loss for RamK. Saki at least put up a fight.

Yes was indoors. Has been raining cats and dogs all week. There can be a long list of reasons/excuses for this result but no denying that the overall trend for the past 6 months has been a nosedive. Time to find a few weeks in the calendar to get off the treadmill and have a re-think?

Unfortunately RamK has a lot of points to defend from being a finalist last year at Newport, so the thought of an extended break will kill his ranking. Come to think of it, not sure if his ranking at this point will even get him in the main draw this year. He may have to qualify.knarayen wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 10:32 amNot good for RamK. Prajnesh has a tough Q1 match at Queen’s Club on grass, against James Ward, the Brit who made the third round at Wimbledon in 2015, and has had some great results on grass. Prajnesh should still beat him if our Gunner is fit.
