$54K(+H) Bangkok 1,2 challenger,Thailand,February 2019

Post by sameerph » Sun Feb 10, 2019 12:35 pm

Some of our players will be at the 2 Bangkok Challengers starting from tomorrow.

This is the draw for the first week-

[R1] (1) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,103) bye
[R1] Saketh Myneni (IND,260) vs. Zhe Li (CHN,264)
[R1] Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,293) vs. Soon Woon Kwon (KOR,240)

[R1] N. Ariram Balaji/ Arjun Kadhe (IND) vs. Sanchai Ratiwatana / Sonchat Ratiwatana (THA)

This is a much tougher challenger than Chennai one. So, first round matches too are tough for all our players.

Don't know what happened for both of them ( Prajnesh and Mukund) to be folding up so badly. Did they only get into Bangkok later after playing Chennai SF's in saturday ?

Anyway, better luck next week. Feel like Prajnesh should have really gone for New York and Delray beach ATP events in these 2 weeks where he would have got into main draw instead of playing safe. The purpose may not be solved unless he has a run to the title next week.

Does he get those 3 points courtesy his R32 appearance? I don't see that updating on livetennis eu. If that's the case, he has collected only 32 points so far and has 7 points dropping off next week. Anything less than a final next week will put pressure in April-May where he has to defend 140 points before Wimby deadline.

Right now Bangkok is a lot warmer than Chennai. Our highs are around 30-31 while it is in the mid 30s in Bangkok. Was weather a factor? If so, they will be fine next week.

Maybe they all had a dodgy Thai red curry?

Balaji/Arjun are seeded third next week, and are drawn to meet the unseeded Ratiwatana twins in R2 (QF). In R1, they play Enrique Lopez-Perez and Hiroki Moriya.
