Tiafoe into the 4th round so Prajnesh got a bit unlucky with the draw here (despite the American's poor results going into the competition).

Yes, Tiafoe has beaten 5th seeded Kevin Anderson and #37 Andreas Seppi after beating Prajnesh.
I had talked about his “6-match losing streak” going in, but that was against elite players like Federer and Tsitsipas in the Hopman Cup, and two losses in the ATP’s NextGen year-end championship. The fact that he qualified in to that tournament and won his first pool match (before losing the next two) showed his abilities. And playing Hopman Cup too was a privilege: he was a bit over-matched there, but those tough matches were a god way to hone his skills at the start of the year.

I had always said that the early part of the match was where Prajnesh would have a great opportunity to capitalise on Tiafoe’s mental weakness arising from the losing streak. If only Prajnesh had made that overhead...:)

Then he would have lost in 4 sets. :D Tiafoe is playing like a top 25 player here, so no shame in Prajnesh losing to him. Prajnesh himself is playing at a top 100 level (or perhaps even a little better), so it will be good to see him play at that level in his next few tournaments where he should get lots of wins...

I agree. I think even if Prajnesh had won that set, he would've found it tough to keep his advantage, seeing the kind of form Tiafoe is showing. That he took Tiafoe to a tiebreaker and so close to losing the set, shows that Prajnesh is a top-100 quality player too.

I know many of you not having any interest of following MXD scores ... Still posting it ... :p

Lee with Samantha Stosur started with a straight sets win over Peschke and Koolhof ... Next, they r facing the 5th seeds Groenefeld and Farah, who defeated Rohan and Zhaoxuan Yang in the match tie-break ... Rohan and Yang won the first set but failed to keep momentum after that.

[R1] Samantha Stosur (AUS)/ Leander Paes (IND) bt Kveta Peschke (CZE)/ Wesley Koolhof (NED) 64 75
[R1] Zhaoxuan Yang (CHN)/ Rohan Bopanna (IND) l (5) Anna-Lena Groenefeld (GER)/ Robert Farah (COL) 63 36 6-10

[R2] Samantha Stosur (AUS)/ Leander Paes (IND) vs (5) Anna-Lena Groenefeld (GER)/ Robert Farah (COL)

Wonderful to see Leander playing MxD after quite a hiatus -- and that too, with a very good partner.

Quite likely! But if he had won the first set tiebreak, Prajnesh would have had the wind in his sails, and Tiafoe would have been in greater psychological trouble -- given his 6-match losing streak PLUS a first-set loss to a qualifier.

Not sure I agree with Arjun & Jay after watching the first two sets of Prajnesh vs Tiafoe. Tiafoe wasn't playing well at all until maybe late in the second set. I think a little more patient approach from Prajnesh & he could have controlled that match.

Aim to break in top-100

He says the visibility starting affecting him in the later sets but he did concede that Tiafoe was an amazing player and he almost had him in the first.

Tiafoe looks like he will comfortably beat Dimitrov in straight sets and reach the quarters.

Yes, 20 year old Tiafoe beats Dimitrov in 4 sets to reach the QF. Looks like young guns on ATP tour are finally showing their ability. Will be interesting to see what 22 year Medvedev and another 20 year old Tsitsipas can do against Novak and Roger later today.

Comfortable win for Tiafoe over Dimitrov, who served a DF at 6-6 in the second set tiebreak to throw it away in typical fashion. Tiafoe turns 21 today, and he next plays Nadal in the QF.

Tsitsipas defeats Federer, let's see if Medvedev can take care of Djokovic.
