Saki wins 6-4 6-7(4) 7-6(4) and enters the main draw. Looks like he made life difficult for himself in the third set (going by what Hombre wrote above as I did not follow the match). As a reward, he gets fifth-seed Benoit Paire in the first round. This is going to be tough for Saki to win.

Yes, Saki started confidently in the third and was doubles break up at 4-1 ... But Gerasimov broke him in the 6th and the 8th games, 4-all ... Saki recovered and afterward served well to held next 2 service games ... In the tie-break, Saki used huge serve on his advantage for qualifying for the main draw ... He is having a tough match against the 5th seed Frenchman, Benoit Paire.

[Q2] (WC) Saketh Myneni (IND,259) bt (8) Egor Gerasimov (BLR,163) 64 67(4) 76(4)

[R1] (WC) Saketh Myneni (IND,259) vs (5) Benoit Paire (FRA,52)

Great job by Saki. He is again playing at his top form, it seems. Hope he stays injury-free.

PKBasu wrote: Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:33 pm Terrific draw from Prajnesh and Ramkumar, who both have a good chance to win their R1 matches.

And great to see Saketh win his Q1 over a strong opponent.
Go Prajnesh. Mmoh and Prajnesh train together at Waske. They must know each other’s game well. Could be a tough one for Prajnesh.

Great too see Saki qualify. So, with that our tradition of sending at least 1 qualifier to the main draw for last few years is maintained. I think for last 6-7 years we have 1 qualifier in Chennai/Pune. Need to check.

It is clear that Yuki and Saki can play at top 100 and top 150 level respectively when they are fit. The key is to stay fit.

Great job by Saketh to qualify into the main draw, and reassert himself as India's #3 singles player for the Davis Cup home encounter on grass in Kolkata (now that it is clear Yuki won't be playing). He has a tough R1 assignment against 5th seeded Benoit Paire (FRA, 52).

In India, it is live on 'Star Sports Select 2' channel, the feed is available on 'Tennis TV' also ... For a free feed, need to use usual sites or a site like bet365.com.

Prajnesh is in trouble against Mmoh. He lost the first set 5-7 and is trailing by a break in the second serve, down 2-3 with Mmoh to serve.

I was hoping a winning start for Prajnesh against similar ranked Mmoh ... But Mmoh completed the win in straight sets ... Prajnesh struggled with his game and was looking rusty on the court.
In the doubles, Jeevan and Monroe lost in straight sets against the 4th seeds Granollers brothers.

[R1] (WC) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,110) l Michael Mmoh (USA,103) 57 36

Doubles
[R1] Nicholas Monroe (USA)/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) l (4) Gerard Granollers (ESP)/ Marcel Granollers (ESP) 46 46
