Re: ATP Tata Open (Pune), January 2019
And I am so glad that IE III is at the level of getting past an inspired LP, who I am sure is still a real force. These are the kinds of matches a top doubles team needs to win, and they showed a lot by staying tough through a real dogfight. Great to see that our Davis Cup team finally has a doubles team that can compete at the highest level.

Good to see these gritty wins from IE III. A lot of top level doubles matches get decided in the match tiebreaker, so this is good sign that they will do well on the tour and in the Davis Cup...

32 year old Kevin Anderson takes on 39 year old Ivo Karlovic in the singles final. Both losing singles semifinalists were 34 years old -- Giles Simon and Steve Darcis. Tennis careers are lasting quite a lot longer these days (and beginning at later ages!).

In the semis also Rohan and Divij saved a couple of match points after 7-9 down.

Congrats to the Indian Express III for winning the title in their maiden tournament together. That takes Divij to a new career high of 36. With Bops at 32, they are edging closer to a doubles seeding at the Australian Open.

First convincing win for the duo. Even during Asian games they struggled a bit. But maybe they are getting into rhythm.
Good result. All the best!

Kevin Anderson didn’t retain the title, he went one step further at Pune than last year — when he had lost the final to Gilles Simon (the man he beat in the SF this year).
