Nov/Dec Women's $25K ITF tournaments - India

Post by bujilover »

There will be five women's $25,000 ITF tournaments during the WTA off-season in India, as usual. 2 of them are scheduled for the month of November with the first one being on grass courts at Muzzafarnagar, Ahmedabad.

Nov 12-18, $25K ITF, Muzzafarnagar

1 Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) 172 1
2 Valentina IVAKHNENKO (RUS) 205 1
3 Hiroko KUWATA (JPN) 272 1
4 Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) 280 1
5 Eri HOZUMI (JPN) 290 1
6 Nastja KOLAR (SLO) 359 1
7 Natalija KOSTIC (SRB) 367 1
8 Rutuja BHOSALE (IND) 368 1
9 Tereza MIHALIKOVA (SVK) 390 1
10 Kyoka OKAMURA (JPN) 423 1
11 Aleksandrina NAYDENOVA (BUL) 443 1
12 Lina GJORCHESKA (MKD) 485 1
13 Shiho AKITA (JPN) 488 2
14 Ksenia PALKINA (KGZ) 504 1
15 Sarah-Rebecca SEKULIC (GER) 508 1
16 Michika OZEKI (JPN) 530 1
17 Zeel DESAI (IND) 562 1
18 Melanie KLAFFNER (AUT) 573 1

Great chance for Pranjala and Rutuja to get some wins. Mahak is in the Q list and probably will get a MDWC. Whatever happened to Nandini Sharma? :-(

Ankita and Karman will be playing the WTA125K at Taipei the same week. It's unfortunate that Ankita has to miss playing on her favorite surface at her home courts but hopefully our players will get some wins at Taipei.

Muzzafarnagar is in Uttar Pradesh not Ahmedabad.

Important for Pranjala to do well in these if she has to get into Australian open qualies draw.

Thanks, Vishnu. She has not played yet even though she is featured in the rosters but it’s probably because she is only 2-months into the Fall semester. It will be interesting to follow her college career.

And now Pranjala has withdrawn. I hope it's because she, too, is going to Taipei.

At the moment, it looks like nobody really wants to take advantage of the really weak field in Muzaffarnagar.

Rutuja is on track to be seeded 4th.

It probably doesn’t make a lot of sense to play on grass during the off season. But Pranjala is not on the initial entry lists released for Taipei either. Maybe she wanted a week of rest.

Someone on TF confirmed that Pranjala was in the ALTs list for Taipei but withdrew. Not sure what the reason is.

It was a great chance for Pranjala to earn a lot of points with her being the second seed at Muzaffarnagar. A final or title here would have taken her close to getting to Australian open qualies. Now, it will be difficult in 2 remaining 25K's in end November. I guess there might be some niggle. Hope there is no serious injury.

And now Rutuja has withdrawn

So none of our top 4 will show up.

Hard to believe that they're all injured at the same time.
Perhaps they just didn't feel like travelling all the way to Muzaffarnagar to play on grass? Even if so, it's ridiculous to pass up the chance to earn 50 points.

Our men and women are wasting precious opportunities to rack up the points in home tournaments. Terrible :damn:

This tournament has a history which I didn't know. We must market such stories.
