That is a massive win for 17 year old Mahak Jain over a former world #163, who is not yet 30 and so a still-formidable opponent.

Yes, R2. I changed it above.

As of now, Ankita is still in the entry list of Navi Mumbai $25K next week. She may want to end the season on a high and inside top 200. Karman, Pranjala and Rutuja have ended their season due to off season training/injuries.

A bit unfortunate that our #2 and 3 and 4 could play in one of the 4 weeks here. It will be great if they can prepone this tournament cycle a little earlier from next year.

I agree with Sameer. Tournaments this late in the calendar cuts into the off-season for our players. Off-season training is important as well.

:D Ha ha! As jarring as it may sound, it is now accepted and appears in many standard dictionaries.

Nothing jarring about it, even. A great contribution to English vocabulary from India. A word that should've always been there in English, but took the ingenuity of Indians to be placed into the vocabulary. It is still not officially there in many dictionaries though. So we should use it at our own discretion.

Ankita too pulled out of Navi Mumbai 25K next week. So, she will not finish the year in top 200 and our top 4 players will not be playing next week too.

Its great we are having so many of these 25K events and in small towns and cities but would be even better if they spread it out a bit and have it around october or november or january ,than so late in december, that should definitely improve the participation.
We have another 25K in Jodhpur later in January, lets see what happens there.

Only Mahak was able to move thru to the second round with an upset win over the third seed although he got a bit fortunate as her opponent retired after losing the first set.

Good fight by Mihika, Sowjanya, Zeel and Jeniffer but none could pull off a win.
