As expected Bhambri withdraws from Pune.
And the confusing signals from him is also not helping his cause . " I love playing in Japan and am going to play in Kobe " , and than later withdraw at the last moment , Surprised that he made such a comment of playing and looking forward to a tournament and than withdrawing at the 11th hour, and it is not that his fitness dropped suddenly and had to pull out, after committing to travel and play in Kobe .

Mukund scores an excellent commendable win over 286 ranked American C Altamirano 7-6 , 6-3
Good to see him in nice playing form and awaits winner of the match between 8th seed Canadian Filip Peliwo / Blaz Kavcic , difficult but a win could be a high probability considering he is playing on home soil and the fine form he is .

Yes, really a good win for Mukund against the American youngster ... After winning the tight tie-break he controlled the second set.

In the live rankings Yuki has dropped to 126 and with no more play possible for the rest of year , he would finish the year between 135 to 140 after his 115 points from last year of Pune/Banglore fall off.

Yes, good to see 4 Indians in the second round when only 2 were expected to make it based on draw and ranking. Sumit and Mukund did well to beat much higher ranked players.

Al the 4 Indians figure in today's singles line up , and predicting 3-1 for us , could well be 4-0 to us if Mukund can pull off a stunning upset.

I hope we win at least 3/4 matches in singles and 3/3 in doubles (one match, of course, is an all-Indian affair).

2 contrasting matches on. Mukund and Kavic had long opening service games where they won 3 breakpoints each and are at 1-1 .

On the other hand, Saki has breezed thru the first set 6-1 in 20 mins.

Mukund was broken and Kavcic served for the set at 5-4 but Mukund broke back for 5-5. Held for 6-5. Then, he has 2 set points at 40-15 on Kavcic serve but could not convert and it goes into a tie break in first set.

In the meantime, Saki seems to have given up the momentum from first set and lost the second set 3-6. That goes into decider.
