Mukund plays an excellent tie break to win the first set 76(5).

Saki up a break leading 4-1 in the third set.

I tried watching Saki play and every time I watched, he lost points. Moved to watch Mukund and that happened again. So I have switched off from watching. :D

So far I seem to be luckier as watched full first set of Mukund's match. Then, switched to Saki match and he wraped up the third set easily. :D

[R2] (WC) Saketh Myneni (IND,315) d. Youssef Hossam (EGY,483) 61 36 63

Now, back to Mukund. :D

Oh, that match is over as Kavcic retired midway thru second set.

[R2] (Q) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,418) d. Blaz Kavcic (SLO,196) 76(3) 31 retd.

Second consecutive challenger where Mukund has come thru the qualifying and reached the QF. He has hit great form after a long lean period.

What a marvellous win by Mukund over his 196 opponent who has a career high of 68.
Although this came through by a virtue of walkover , but have a feeling that the all time Great Challenger Vulture tanked his matched after fighting bitterly in the first set and gave up after being broken early in the second set.
Mukund looked confident in the entire match and hitting with precision on both the flanks and hardly surprised with this victory as always felt he would come through against Kavic in the manner he came through the qualies and R1 and nothching up 4 straight wins with the 5th being today.

It would be rather unfortunate if he is denied a WC next week in Pune.

ssp will be proud of me. Two wins out of two so far. I am still hoping that Sumit will spring a surprise.

and the second set 7-6(4) to set up a QF match against Saki. More importantly, he has now earned back 25 of the 100 points that will drop off later in the month. Now Prajnesh is up and let's hope for a perfect day in singles and another QF matchup involving Indians.

Purav and partner are through to the SF without playing a ball. Kavcic must have picked up an injury during the singles match (he may not be a vulture after all)

[QF] (2) Purav Raja (IND)/ Antonio Sancic (CRO) d Blaz Kavcic (SLO)/ Tristan-Samuel Weissborn (AUT) w/o

Prajnesh's match has started and it is 2-3 on serve. Fanselow is playing well and holding serve easily while Prajesh is holding with some struggle as his forehand is somewhat error prone. Fanselow also had a beautiful drop shot and Prajnesh is susceptible to those as he plays several feet behind the baseline.

Qualifier Fanselow takes Prajnesh to the full distance.

Prajnesh got broken at a crucial point in the tenth game of the first set to lose the set 4-6.
In the second set, he broke Fanselow in the fifth game and with that service break goes on to win and pocket the second set 6-4.

Prajnesh is on the ascendancy. After easily holding his serve, he manages to break Fanselow in the third game to lead 2-1 in the decider.
Fanselow immediately breaks back in the fourth game and holds serve next to lead 3-2, with Prajnesh's serve to follow.
Fanselow breaks Prajnesh to take a 4-2 lead in the decider. Prajnesh had a BP on Fanselow's service game, but he couldn't capitalise and Fanselow holds to take a commanding 5-2 lead in the decider. Prajnesh to serve now to stay in the set.

Prajnesh survives the scare and from 2-5 down in the decider, wins the next 5 games (breaking Fanselow twice in succession) to win the decider and the match

[R2] (4) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,141) d. (Q) Sebastin Fanselow (GER,431) : 4-6, 6-4, 7-5

Qualifiers are doing well as they have had more time to get used to the courts in Bangalore. I am seeing mis-hits of the kind low-level players (like me) do all the time. Hope Prajnesh gets used fast else Fanselow will bump him out. Good to see him nose ahead in the second set.

What a super comeback by Prajnesh. Down 3-5, Fanselow had a match point serving at 40-30. He had an easy put away near the net but he hit it straight at Prajnesh and Prajnesh ripped a backhand winner. After that Prajnesh did not look back. He broke Fanselow and then won the next 3 games too to take the match. The kind of match which he should won easily but glad that he still pulled thru on a day when he was not playing at his best.

And that sets up 2 all Indian quarter finals and a semi finalists guranteed in each of the 2 semi finals.
