At WTA 125K Taipei OEC Open, Taipei

[Q1] (2) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,198) d. (WC) Kwan Yau NG (HKG,841) 64 64

Next,

[Q2] (2) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,198) vs. (6) Yuxuan Zhang (CHN,213)

Karman is 1-1 against Zhang both matches being played this year.
[RD1] Ankita Raina (IND,192) vs. (5) Nao Hibino (JPN,119).

Also, Ankita and Karman playing doubles together, dint see that coming.

[RD1] Raina/Thandi vs Cabrera/Ruse(AUS/ROM).

Karman had a poor 2-6,2-6 loss.
There is lucky loser spot. How does it work in WTA?
The highest ranked loser or do they select one player randomly?

Not sure but Karman did not get selected so they obviously didn't select the highest remaining player who lost in the final round of qualies. Much be random or possibly Karman did not sign in for a LL spot.

In the Quarters, they are scheduled to face a TPE Wild Card pair, who took out the Top seeds Hibino and Kalashnikova in straight sets.

Earlier Prarthana along with her partner Choi lost in the first round in straight sets.

[QF] Ankita Raina (IND) / Karman Kaur Thandi (IND) vs (WC) Ya-Hseun Lee (TPE) / En Liang (TPE)

How does the woman Karman defeated in the first round of qualifying get a LL spot ahead of any of the final round losers?

That’s very strange, other than Karman, there is also a few more that’s alive in the doubles draw that lost in the final q round.

That is truly, wildly ludicrous!! How can someone who lost in Q1 (i.e., before the final qualifying round) get a LL spot??

Wooow woohoo woohoo
Karman and Ankita win their first WTA doubles title.
Their opponents retired.
If not wrong, Sania was the only Indian women to win a WTA title. These two join her.

Surprised to see a $125k tournament being called a wta tournament whereas a $150k tournament in Bangalore is being called a Challenger.

Maybe because wta doesn't organise Challengers.
