Karunuday is also in the doubles final (with his Filipino partner Alcantara; they are seeded 2). In singles, he beat the 7th seed Jumpei Yamasaki (JPN, 655) in R2 before taking out the 3rd seed in the QF.

His next opponent, Takeuchi, is a 30-year-old with a career-high of 378 -- not too different from Karunuday's own career-high of 393, achieved 4 years ago when he was 23.

KU has strung together 3 good wins beating two seeds along the way. Given that so few points are on offer in a 15K Futures tournament, he needs to win the tournament to get a decent chunk (18) of ranking points.

KU lost in straight sets. 6-7(?), 6-0. What a lost opportunity.

Changed the thread title to include F6 futures.

Nice upset win by Nitin there against Thai #2 who had comprehensively beaten him just a month back.

Also tomorrow ( apart from KU)-

[R1] (2) Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND,565) vs. Kelsey STEVENSON (CAN,1076)

Stevenson had reached the final last week at the same venue. So, it will not be an easy match for Manish.

KU wins 6-1 6-4. He won five games on the trot to go from 1-4 to 6-4 in the second set. All our players are in the bottom half of the draw. :-(

Manish wins easily. His opponent retired after losing the first set 6-2. All three of our players will be on court tomorrow for R2. There is a decent chance for us to go 3-0. KU has a tricky match against an 18 year old Taiwanese player.

It’s a complete sweep by our Indian contingents on around 1 since Ajeet Rai upset the top seed as well ;)

Hope they all continue to win next round.

We get 2 out of 3 wins today.

[R2] Karunuday SINGH (IND,723) d. (Q) Tsung-Hao HUANG (TPE,1421) 62 75

[R2] Nitin Kumar SINHA (IND,892) l. Felix CORWIN (USA,823) 16 36

[R2] (2) Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND,567) d. Congsup CONGCAR (THA,968) 26 75 61

Followed scores in Manish's match and his opponent served for the match at 5-4 in the second set and had a match point which Manish saved, broke him and then won 8 of the next 9 games.

[QF] Karunuday SINGH (IND,723) vs. (4) Shalva DZHANASHIYA (RUS,592)

[QF] (2) Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND,567) vs. Felix CORWIN (USA,823)

KU retired in his match in third set but Manish staged another comeback win.

[QF] Karunuday SINGH (IND,723) l. (4) Shalva DZHANASHIYA (RUS,592) 75 67(3) 13 retd.

[QF] (2) Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND,567) d. Felix CORWIN (USA,823) 36 64 64

Manish was 1-4 down in the third set and won 5 straight games from there. A similar sort of comeback like his second round match.

Also Indian origin Kiwi Ajeet Rai is thru to the SF as well.

Next,

[SF] (2) Manish SURESHKUMAR (IND,567) vs. (4) Shalva DZHANASHIYA (RUS,592)
[SF] Ajeet RAI (NZL,1034) vs. (Q) Matic SPEC (SLO,1174)

Manish avenged Nitin's loss today. Tomorrow hopefully he will avenge KU's loss.
