He lost once to Yuki in a Taiwan Challenger the week after beating him in the Davis Cup.

RamK now at a live ranking of 122. Next up is 4th seed Damir Dzhumur.

[R1] Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ N. Sriram Balaji (IND) 6-1 5-7 10-8 (2) Julio Peralta (CHI)/ Horacio Zeballos (ARG)

Excellent start for Balaji with Bopanna and Jeevan making some noise beating India's #2 doubles player. Good to see 2 of our pairs in the QF but unfortunate that Jeevan and Divij had to face in the first round itself.

Wonderful credible win by Ram over a much fancied opponent and extremely pleased to have watched it happen

Checked out that Jiri when under pressure always goes down the T, so Ram had that area perfectly covered.

Throughout the match Ram hardly used power on his serve and kept them around an average of 160 because his opponent likes pace and with the ball comming on slow and stretching him wide of the court completely unsettled him , Ram also very effectively used his backhand slice as a rallying ball, since the back spin not only allowed the ball to be very low, but more importantly  kept Jiri's out of the strike zone as he loves to whip the ball with the shortest of back swing.

Loss to the Portuguese in Kaoshing was inexcusable,  but on brighter side it gave Ram the opportunity to reach Shenzen just in time for the qualies and embark on a good run.

Ok so ramk used his backhand slice effectively - good for him. And looks like he smartly changed up on his serves and read his opponents serve too.

All good. Next round is dzhumur who may pose a different set of problems - hope he is up to the task, :goodluck:

Gets one break back. It is 4-1. Hopefully, Prajnesh will hold his serve for the first time in the match.

The #60 proved too much for Prajnesh, but he gets 12 points and US$10,800 for qualifying in.
Prajnesh is at 170 in the live rankings.

Prajnesh entered the doubles draw at Chengdu as an ALT with Bemelmans and they are playing Albot/Jaziri now. Our pair took the first set 6-2.
