Re: US Open 2018
Yuki has broken, and leads 5-3 in the third.
Herbert holds at 30. 5-4, Yuki to serve for the set.

Re: US Open 2018
Is there a player with a worse GS record in tennis than Yuki?
Yet another straight sets defeat, and this time to a doubles specialist.

Re: US Open 2018
Disappointing loss - but then a guy who wanders into the US Open first round with no match practice at all for the previous 4 weeks - it just isn't going to happen. Best he can expect is to use this to get more match practice - sad way to play the US Open.
There is a flaw in his windup - there is a slight discontinuity at the top of his wind up where he doesn't drop his racket head down into a back scratch position deep enough (it is very slight, not enough). You can check every major player in the ATP tour has that back scratch loop which gives you that extra whipping action when hitting up on the serve.
He really does have a good to great return game - sad that he cant take advantage of it.
Mentally he doesn't believe in himself like he used to - I guess the injuries thing starts to pile up and impact you mentally over time.
Our number 1 player needs a shot of confidence building right now - I don't know maybe he needs a steady girlfriend?

Re: US Open 2018
Just how predictable was that?
I don't know if he couldn't play the last several weeks, or chose not to. Going to give him the benefit of the doubt & assume the former, but neither is a good sign for his career.
Guessing he will now disappear for a few weeks again.

Re: US Open 2018
Yuki stays in the US for Chicago challenger (maybe I’ll get to go if he progresses to SF/F???) and Cary, NC the week after.

Re: US Open 2018
The problem with Yuki is his obsession with training at academies starting from Nick Bollettieri, days
How could one enter a GS with zero tournament play . No amount of hard training compensates for actual tournament match play.
If he really was busy practising for past 3-4 weeks , he could have easily pencilled in atleast one tournament before the USO to be sharp for his first round match.
