Nice run by Pranjala to make only her third SF at 25K level. She has never made it past this stage though. Looks like a tough match this time too against a player who has beaten her in juniors.

Pranjala and Rutuja also reached the doubles final.

[SF] (3) Rutuja Bhosale (IND)/ Pranjala Yadlapalli (IND) d. (2) Hiroko Kuwata (JPN)/ Junri Namigata (JPN) 64 76(4)

Next,

[F] (3) Rutuja Bhosale (IND)/ Pranjala Yadlapalli (IND) vs. (1) Naiktha BAINS (AUS) / Barbora STEFKOVA (CZE)

Excellent tournament for Pranjala -- SF in singles and final in doubles. The doubles final has two Indians in one pair playing an NRI and partner!

Xiyu Wang will not only beat Pranjala but will also win this tournament. This lefty is highly talented. She has got a decent serve and she finds the angles nicely. So no shame in losing to her but still Karman needs to do better. It appears that Chinese women have shifted their focus from badminton to tennis. World's largest trading economy is spending heavily (at least 20 times more than India) on tennis and it's producing results for them specially on the women's tour. There are now a lot of Chinese in top 100 and new talents coming.

[SF] Pranjala Yadlapalli (IND,419) l. Xiyu WANG (CHN, 384) 36 62 26

Pranjala-Rutuja will play doubles final later.

Congrats to Pranjala/Rutuja for winning the doubles title, with an excellent win over a strong pair in the final.
And good, tough fight by Pranjala in the singles SF as well!

Rutuja pulled out of her singles QF match against the Thai player. She is part of Asian games squad. So, mostly it looks like she has had to travel to Jakarta to join the team there, a couple of days before the team events start on Sunday.

This is the second week of 15K Futures in Thailand. I am using an older thread for this event as well. (Mods: Please edit title)

$15,000 Nonthaburi, Thailand (Hard -- Outdoor)

[R1] Natasha PALHA (IND) d (Q) Sravya Shivani CHILAKALAPUDI (IND) 6-3 6-1
[R1] Riya BHATIA (IND) d Tamachan MOMKOONTHOD (THA) 2-6 6-3 7-6(7)
[R1] Prerna BHAMBRI (IND) d Nudnida LUANGNAM (THA) [7] 6-3 6-1
[R1] Zeel DESAI (IND) [4] d Pat VASURATNA (THA) 6-1 6-0
[R1] Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND) d I-Hsuan CHO (TPE) 6-4 6-4
[R1] (Q) Yatawee CHIMCHUM (THA) l Sai Samhitha CHAMARTHI (IND) 7-5 4-6 0-6

We went 6-1 for the day with the sole loser being qualifier Sravya who lost to Natasha. Some very good comeback wins for Riya and Sai Samhita. Riya saved a couple of match points in the third set tiebreak. Sadly we have a couple of all Indian matchups in the second round -- Riya vs Prerna and Zeel vs Sowjanya. Natasha gets the top seed in R2 and Sai Samhitha gets the second seed.
