What a nice set of results in Thailand! Particularly nice wins for Prerna, Riya, Zeel and Sowjanya.

Natasha and Sai Samhita lost to the top seeds. Prerna took out Riya. Zeel and Sowjanya are in a dog fight with score at 6-1, 2-6, 5-6 (15-30) (Zeel serving) with the scoreboard showing that the match has been interrupted. So far, they have played for 3h 13m.
On the men's side in Thailand, KU is the eighth seed and is through to the QF after winning the first two rounds. Shahbaaz Khan qualified into the main draw and lost in R1.

Mixed day in Thailand. Zeel won her R2 match against Sowjanya in a tie-break but lost in the QF to a Thai player. Prerna defeated the top seed rather easiily 6-2 6-3 to reach the SF.
On the men's side KU lost to the top-seed in a tough three setter.
(Sorry for not posting scores in standard format.)

[QF] Prerna Bhambri (IND, 949) d. 1-B. Thamchaiwat (THA, 428) 62 63
[QF] 4-Zeel Desai (IND) l. 6-Lee Hua-Chen (TWN) 36 26
But this was very unfair on Zeel, as she had just played a 3 hour 32 minute match against Sowjanya, winning 62 16 76(3)
Prerna's career-high ranking was 358 a couple of years ago, so her victory over the 20 year old top seed wasn't such a big upset.

No PKB. The match between Zeel and Sowjanya was incomplete and they needed to play for another 20 minutes to finish off the R2 march. So asking Zeel to play again is not a big deal. And yes, Prerna winning is not a surprise. She has not played enough tournaments to have a ranking that reflects her true ability.

Too bad. I thought that Prerna would win this match.
