Prajnesh got bagled in the first set by Safwat. I was thinking if the injury is still affecting.
But, he comes back strongly to take the second set 6-3.

Up 3-0 in the decider. And wins it 6-1. Looks like Safwat gave up there.

Yes, a good repeat win over Safwat, 06 63 61.
I like Prajnesh’s chances against young Tommy Paul (who beat Tomic 63 46 63).

Once again , held on to the advantage of break and didn't let it go and pocket the first set.

Yes.... and break in the second set for Ram to lead 2-1
Brilliant play , kept the American under tremendous pressure and the game lasted almost 10 minutes converted on his 3rd BP and earlier in this game played an amazing shot to retrieve the Syzmckek overhead smash .

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018
Yeah, he does it!!!
Newport HOF ATP, Newport, RI, USA
[SF] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,161) d. Tim Smyczek (USA,123), 64 75
The cross-court forehand that RamK hit in the 9th game of the 2nd set, trying for another break (after dropping serve in the 6th game and breaking back in the 7th game), was one of the best shots by any Indian that I have seen. That instantly reminded me of Pete Sampras and sure enough the commentators said exactly the same thing. The kind of shot that just drops your jaw and leaves you to figure out how it was possible for a ball to have so much pace from that angle. Anyway, he didn't get the break there but he got it in the 11th game. Some out-of-this-world volleying from him. Then it was a demonstration of perfect serving, as he made the final with 5 straight first-serve missiles ending with an ace. Whoa!!!

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018
Ram makes history to enter an ATP final with a straight sets 6-4,7-5 win to join his illustrious peers Vijay & LP in making the Newport Final.
After a confident 1st set , the Smycek raised his game in the second and both of them traded breaks with the American leading 4-2 , but Ram showing exceptional calmness not only got the break back , but immediately broke his opponent to serve out a famous win.
As usual serve was on song and showed excellent court coverage and retrieving abilities through out the match which haven't seen exhibited by any of our players recently and which led to the commentators remarking , for a Lanky player to cover ground so quickly is simply amazing.
Well played Ram , Go get the Title..

And his nickname is now official. The commentators asked him if they can call him RamRam, and he said sure. That is one we haven't used.
