Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
Mahak lost the next five games to lose the final set 3-6
Disappointing after her impressive ouster of the top seed yesterday.

Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
You need these kind of losses to improve. As long as it comes after 2-3 wins also, it is all good. Like I said, if one is getting about 3 matches on average per event on the pro circuit, skipping juniors won't hurt you. But missing out on making news at grand slams can't help on the sponsorship front, like PKB said. I can never understand why so many of our players make that mistake, and then cry about nobody supporting them. The way Sania did things was a thing of beauty to see. Sadly nobody paid attention to the details of her rise.

Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
Semi final match-ups -
[SF] (3) Zeel DESAI (IND,608) vs. (Q) Arianne HARTONO (NED,NR)
[SF] (8) Mahak JAIN (IND,765) vs (6) Aldila SUTJIADI (INA,745)
Mahak lost to the local girl Sutijiadi last week who went on to win the title. So, the local girl seems to be playing better here than her ranking. Lets see if Mahak can turn tables on her this time.

Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
Mahak does turn the tables against her Indonesian opponent this time in a very good comeback win.
[SF] (3) Zeel DESAI (IND,608) l. (Q) Arianne HARTONO (NED,NR) 06 57
[SF] (8) Mahak JAIN (IND,765) d. (6) Aldila SUTJIADI (INA,745) 36 61 76(4)
Mahak is into her third ITF final, first one outside India. She lost to Rutuja and Zeel in the earlier rounds. Hope she is third time lucky.
Next,
[F] (8) Mahak JAIN (IND,765) vs. (Q) Arianne HARTONO (NED,NR)
Was wondering how this unranked Dutch-Indoenesian player was winning so many matches this week at ease. Just found that Ariane Hartono is 2018 NCAA singles champion. So, I think she must be a top 300 level player. Tough one for Mahak.

Fantastic to see Mahak turn it around against her conqueror from last week. This is what a champion is made of. Great stuff from the 17 year old!

Not necessarily, I suppose. On the women's side, I think they could be as poor as a top-600 quality player when they start out. They would usually end up in the top-300 though.

Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
Well the 2016 ncaa champ, Danielle Collins, is now in the top 50, so she was pretty good when she came out. We'll likely be able to figure out based on her results....

Re: $15K Women's ITF - Indonesia & Hong Kong July 2018
Arianne Hartono proved too strong for Mahak in the final, defeating her 64 61.
Hartono (who has to be of Indonesian descent, although born in and representing the Netherlands) also won the doubles title with an Indonesian partner. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi (which reminds me: what happened to Rishabh Agarwal??) and won the NCAA singles title this year, winning 17 matches in a row at the end of the season. She is clearly in great form, but hopefully Mahak (our National champion) will win a Futures final soon.
