Bit off topic for this thread but anyways. We have an exciting week of tennis coming up for our top women players.
Ankita Raina and Karman Thandi will take part in the 250K Wta Jiangxi Open, Nanchang, China.
Ankita in already in the main draw and Karman will take part in the qualifying events. I dont remember last time we had 2 of our women players taking part in 250K WTA International event.
Its very week field and hopefully those two take full advantage of it and give their best.
Wonder if we see Prarthna play doubles here, that would make 3 of our players in this event.

But Rutuja/Pranjala won the doubles title, beating the top seeds easily in the SF and the second seeds in the final:

If Karman makes it to the main draw (not a given), I think it would be a very rare case of two of our players being in the main draw of a WTA event outside India. I also don't remember when it happened last. Maybe it never has. Sania and Shikha were both on tour and ranked in the top-150 around 2005-2006 when Shikha made it into 5 or 6 WTA events, but Sania wasn't at any of those events. They both almost played in the main draw of the 2005 US Open, as Shikha lost in the final qualies and Sania had that great run into the final-16. That may have been the closest we came to it.IndiaSports wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 7:26 amI dont remember last time we had 2 of our women players taking part in 250K WTA International event.
