[F] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,261) d. (1) Jia-Jing LU (CHN,185) 6-1 6-2

1st title for Karman as a pro. Her service has been very effective. The Chinese really struggled to handle her serve all through the match. It seems she has succeeded in cutting down the number of double faults. But Karman can also improve rest of her game and she needs to. There is huge scope of improvement. With her big serve she will be very effective on grass. She deserves a quali WC for Wimbledon. With her current form she can beat Ankita. Only a handful of players on WTA tour today possess better serve than Karman.

That's a huge monkey off her back.
Congratz Karman
1st 25K Singles Title, much deserved.
She no doubt has the game but this title will give her loads of confidence, she had pretty solid wins this week.
This win should take her to career best ranking?

With her title win, KKT rises up to 258 in the Live Rankings (close to her Career high of 254).

That is without her this week's title points which will get updated next week.

With those 50 points Karman will go up to around 225 on July 2.

What a fantastic week for Karman Kaur Thandi! She won the title this week without dropping a set, and absolutely decimated the top seed in the final.

It will be exciting to see her and Ankita playing the US Open qualifiers! How I wish Karman could play at Wimbledon too. Clearly, the big serve will be very well suited for grass.

Looking forward to Rajiv's eye-witness account of the last four games of the match (if he got back there after the rain delay)!

Pranjala and her French partner lost the doubles final yesterday 36 46.

VParam / PKB : Wouldn't the Asian Games mean, both our girls wouldn't be able to play at the US Open?

Ahhh PKB my bad luck streak continued unabated ,First the game stopped on my arrival and than wrongly timed the rain delay and it was all over when I returned.

I never follow women's Tennis but something told me today was going to be life changing day for KKT and had to be there, and sadly :damn: :damn: missed it

Hoping for Siddharth Rawat to replicate her success next week

Sadly true. We should pressure AITA to let them play the team event but skip the individual events to play the US Open qualifiers. Same for the the men (the choice of which one to play should be left to the players).

The reasonable thing would be to have Saketh and Sasi play singles in the Asian games.
