Re: Tennis Asian Games 2018, Indonesia - Jakarta Palembang 2018
Congratulations to Bops and Divij for getting us the GOLD and making the country proud!
Divij is having a fantastic year and I hope this is only the beginning of a solid bonding between these 2 for Davis Cup and other national duties.

Good luck to Prajnesh for his Semifinal match. Istomin is definitely not a tough nut to crack.

Yes, Divij is indeed having a fabulous year, making the QF at Wimbledon and now winning an Asiad gold with Rohan (congrats to the pair).
Yet Divij was the last one picked for Davis Cup all these years. I hope the Divij-Rohan partnership settles down now and becomes a regular Davis Cup pairing.

Prajnesh needs it and moreover India need it badly. Tennis have to make it up for our debacle in Kabaddi. Come on Prajnesh , you can do it. Good thing is he has got the rest he needed.

Prajnesh is down a break in the first set against Istomin. It is 1-4 with Prajnesh to serve. Istomin is having easy holds. Not looking good.

Lost the first set 2-6. Prajnesh was up 40-15 in the 8th game, but then lost the next four points in succession to lose the set.

Prajnesh is a break down 2-4 in the second set now. Istomin playing really well and Prajnesh making more errors than usual.

Denis Istomin (UZB, 75) vs. Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND, 161) 62 42
Prajnesh had a couple of break points but couldn't convert. Now he has just been broken, and it's 2-4 in the second set.

Still a good run and a great feat for another one of our guys that has shown productive progress this year. Would love to see Prajnesh take a break and aim for a top-100 during the off-season.

Prajnesh matches expectations, and kudos to him for that.
While it benefits us often, I still wish they had bronze medal matches in the racket sports...

Yes, Divij-Rohan should be our top pair for the short term future. Longer term, we do seem to have a nice pipeline of folks that are playing doubles at the ATP level and others such as Arjun Kadhe and Saketh Myneni (and perhaps even Yuki) who may well be ATP quality in the near future. We should be able to feature a strong doubles team in Davis Cup and the Olympics.PKBasu wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 8:07 am Yes, Divij is indeed having a fabulous year, making the QF at Wimbledon and now winning an Asiad gold with Rohan (congrats to the pair).

Unknown Indonesian team won the Gold, only if Rohan could justify his doubles skill on STB that day. Frustration
