I think we just need to give Ram an year or year and a half and he'll figure this out. Then he will make the run to top-100 I feel. Till then, hopefully he can be in the top-120 to 180 region while figuring out his game plan for top-100 move.

Well, he can take his time and play with whatever strategy he wants when playing on pro tour working out his game, making a few experiments and be prepared to lose some matches. But, when he is playing for India and playing to get medals, he should not experiment and play the best way to win matches and I am sure serve and volley on every point does not succeed at this level.
Losing to 432nd ranked player is a bad loss.

Glad to see Prajnesh coming through in the third set.
Pathetic loss for us in women’s doubles. Ankita may even have performed better with either Rutuja or Pranjala but how can a doubles specialist like Prarthana let her team losing with such a poor score?

How do you know that Prarthana was the one who let the team down? Did you watch the match?
From what I saw of Rohan/Ankita's last round match, Ankita was unable to finish easy balls at the net. And was also trying to unnecessarily hit passing shots towards the player at the net, where we were ending up at the losing end of the point.

Rohan-Ankita through to the Quarters. Indonesian pair is waiting. Only Prajnesh , Rohan and Ankita is doing well here as challenges from Sumit Nagal and Ram ended.

So we wanted 6/7 today and ended up with 4/7. Quite poor. Indian tennis at major events continues to be a letdown.

Very surprising to read this. RamK has done very well on grass, but it is surprising to find him becoming an instinctive serve-volleyer. He needs to get back to his normal game for the rest of the year (hard and clay seasons).sameerph wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:49 am RamK loses in round of 16 to 428th ranked Jurabek Karimov of Uzbekistan 63 46 36.
That is a terribly disappointing loss. That match was not live on tv but a journalist tweeting from courtside has tweeted that Indian camp is livid that at Ram for playing serve and volley through the match.Got broken five times but did not go to a plan B.

Good to see Prajnesh and Ankita doing well, and Rohan living up to his top billing in Men's and mixed doubles.

Re: Tennis Asian Games 2018, Indonesia - Jakarta Palembang 2018
As per seedings, we were supposed to get 4 medals - 2 in mens singles, 1 in mens doubles and 1 in mixed doubles. ( 1 gold in mens doubles).
RamK faltered but Ankita had made up for it. So, we are still on track for 4 medals and 1 gold. But, tomorrow we need to get wins in mens singles, mens doubles and mixed doubles to stay on track though.
Ankita has too tough a match against 32nd ranked Chinese top seed.

Ankita loses the first set 4-6. Close one but the Chinese asserted her class at crucial moments towards the end of that set. Came back from 15-40 down to hold for the set.
