Sowjanya is in the FQR with an excellent upset over her seeded opponent in QR2.

QR1 Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) 7-5 6-3 Supapitch KUEARUM (THA,UNR)
QR2 Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) 6-2 6-3 Josephine BOUALEM (FRA,703) [9]
FQR Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) versus Aunchisa CHANTA (THA,UNR)

Main Draw

R1 [2] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,263) vs [WC] Nicha LERTPITAKSINCHAI (THA,609)

Pranjala and Rutuja are drawn to play qualifiers which will be decided today(Monday) once the FQR is completed. Let's hope all 3 of our players cross the first hurdle. :goodluck:

Sowjanya made heavy weather of her encounter with a 15 year old wildcard. She moves so slowly on the court and it was torture to watch the match beyond a few games. Is this lack of movement due to some injury? She has a career high of 571 and didn't look like that class of player to my (clearly an amateur) eyes.

[FQR] Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) d Aunchisa CHANTA (THA,UNR) 6-4 6-2

Next up in R1 is Pranjala. Sowjanya will have to play a lot better to challenge Pranjala.

[R1] Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) vs Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND, 421)
[R1] Rutuja BHONSLE (IND,443) vs (Q) Maddison INGLIS (AUS, 549)

Other results:

[R1] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,263) d [WC] Nicha LERTPITAKSINCHAI (THA,609) 6-3 6-0

Pranjala and Rutuja lost the doubles in a super tiebreaker.

[R1] Sowjanya BAVISETTI (IND,1144) l Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND, 421) 1-6 6-1 4-6
[R1] Rutuja BHONSLE (IND,443) l (Q) Maddison INGLIS (AUS, 549) 1-6 0-1 retired

Pranjala beat Sowjanya in a tight 3 setter. Rutuja retired after losing the first set. Hope it is not a serious injury.

Yes, hope Rutuja is not badly injured just when she is looking good to get her ranking up fast.

Next,

[R2] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,421) vs. (5) Jacqueline CAKO (USA,277)

[R2] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,263) vs. (Q) Maddison INGLIS (AUS, 549)

Karman lost after a marathon match but Pranjala comes up with an excellent upset win.

[R2] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,421) d. (5) Jacqueline CAKO (USA,277) 57 62 62

[R2] (2) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,263) l. (Q) Maddison INGLIS (AUS,549) 67(7) 76(5) 67(4)

Karman's took 4 hours and 24 minutes.

One of the best win of her career so far for Pranjala who had a sweet revenge against Cako whom she had lost to in straight sets at the same venue last year.

[QF] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,421) vs. Alexandra BOZOVIC (AUS,446)

Bozovic upset the top seed from Norway today.

Well done Pranjala

As for Karman, high time she starts winning these kinds of matches or her career will head no where.

Karman is in a mini-slump, but nothing that I would worry too much about.

Terrific victory for Pranjala. Great to see her regain form and pull off one of the best upset victories of her career so far.

Great win for Pranjala. I was worried that she'd fare poorly given that she barely beat Sownjanya. I am not too worried about Karman even though she lost a match she should have won.

Karman broken 5 times in the 3rd set. She doesn't not basic things bcoz she played fewer lower level tournaments.

I agree that she is inexperienced. She doesn't have a plan B, when plan A isn't working. She'll figure that out soon. Her overall game and movement has improved and so it is not as if she has stagnated.

Sadly Prajala could not follow up her upset of a seed while her opponent did follow up with her upset of top seed in second round.

[QF] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,421) l. Alexandra BOZOVIC (AUS,446) 36 67(2)

Pranjala had 2 set points with Bozovic serving at 5-6, 15-40 in the second set but she could not convert. Overall, Pranjala was 2 out of 10 on break points against 3 out 4 for her opponent which proved the key stat for the match.

Anyway, with this QF performance and her last week's points from Spain still to be updated, Pranjala will inside top 400 for the first time her career in next ranking update.

This week Sowjanya and Ramya could not qualify for the main draw. Rutuja pulled out due to injury from last week it seems. So, only Karman and Pranjala are playing in the main draw and Karman started with a double bagel win over 15 year old local player.

[R1] Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,264) d. (WC) Lunda KUMHOM (THA,NR) 60 60

[R1] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,426) vs. (Q) Pamela MONTEZ (USA,1210)

Favorable draw for Pranjala here who might run into Cali again in Round 2 this week. Karman plays Bulgarian Naydenova in R2. :goodluck:

Pranjala had to fight thru 3 sets to win her match.

[R1] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,426) d. (Q) Pamela MONTEZ (USA,1210) 57 62 63

She has a repeat of her match with Coko last week where she got an upset win.

Next,

[R2] (4) Karman Kaur THANDI (IND,264) vs. Aleksandrina NAYDENOVA (BUl,507)

[R2] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,426) vs. (6) Jacqueline CAKO (USA,276)

Naydenova beat Rutuja a couple of weeks back. So, that is not an easy match too for Karman who has been a bit on and off these days.
