Re: French Open 2018
Yes, as of now it looks like Prajnesh's best surface is clay. But, lets see how he plays with this confidence on hard and grass. I think now we will get more player who can say clay is my best surface. I think Sumit Nagal's best surface looks to be clay. Perhaps, for Sasi Mukund too.

Re: French Open 2018
Who is Lee playing with at the French? He has tweeted that he is practicing. https://twitter.com/Leander/status/999220036697911296
Next match for Prajnesh is most likely against Elias Ymer of Sweden. 13th seed, no 122 in the world,22 yo.

Re: French Open 2018
This will be a good one! I think this Ymer brother is the one that is ranked higher. I hope we can get on a live stream to watch this one when it is scheduled. The Roland Garros site is so badly structured - there is no daily schedule of matches page - only a list of matches in progress - no idea of which match is going to be played when - unbelievable!S_K_S wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 3:36 pm Who is Lee playing with at the French? Re: French Open 2018
What an unexpected showing from Prajnesh!
Elias Ymer vs Facundo Bagnis is currently into the second set - EY serving 5-6. I think this match might go to the distance.

Re: French Open 2018
Wow, that is impressive win by Prajnesh over a clay court specialist who is in good form. No reason why he can't win the next one and qualify as well.
From what little I have seen, I think Sumit's shot making might be better in the slower hard courts than on clay (as was the case with Somdev as well). He is certainly comfortable on clay but his results haven't been all that impressive on clay. Agree that Mukund's best surface may be clay. It's possible that Prajnesh and Mukund may be our best singles options on clay on current form.sameerph wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 3:36 pm Yes, as of now it looks like Prajnesh's best surface is clay. Re: French Open 2018
The last time when we asked Prajnesh
Q) You are one of the few Indian players who has consistently done well on the European Clay circuit. Is Clay your strength? How has your stints in Spain / Germany (Schuttler-Waske) impacted your game?
Yeah, I am pretty good on clay because I trained a lot on clay back when I was 16-17, in Spain. I can generate more power and spin on my forehand. So, that could be the main reason. Other factors that make you a better clay-courter include your fitness and patience to play the longer and slower rallies. But I still feel that I am slightly better on hard. But I have the potential to be good on clay if I work on it enough, as I feel I have the set up to be a clay courter if I work on certain aspects.
I have been working with the coach, Bastian Suwanprateep, for a very long time in Schuttler-Waske. He has always been there to support me from the very beginning. He has fixed many issues associated with my game. All the coaches there know what it takes to make to the bigger stages. Alex himself was a top 100 player. I am very grateful for all the help and valuable advises, the structure and the direction, that they all have put me in.
So he considers himself to be better on the hardcourts

Re: French Open 2018
Terrific one-sided dominating win for Prajnesh ... So now only Ymer is in-between of an entry in French Open main-draw for Prajnesh.
[Q3] Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,175) vs (13) Elias Ymer (SWE,122)

Re: French Open 2018
Knarayen doesn't have a smartphone as he mentioned earlier. The website also sucks. Just google French open and the first thing that comes up is live scores and the schedule. Much better than the garbage website for those that don't have a smartphone and don't want to deal with the official website.

Gunneswaran is not on the schedule for tomorrow, thus will be a day of rest for him to get ready to play on Friday.

Re: French Open 2018
Klizan does the same as what he did to Sumit - Miomir Kecmanovic lost to Klizan from 7-6, *4-1, 40-0 up!

Re: French Open 2018
How can one single match transform a player , and Prajnesh has emphatically proved it.
He has been a completely different player ever since the singles rubber in Tianjin.
He was not even deemed worthy of making the Team leave alone a getting to play a rubber , and all the inconsistencies and bad results which happened frequently before the DC have suddenly vanished which is a very pleasing sign.

Re: French Open 2018
It seems we are not the only ones complaining about the pathetic FO website .
Everybody seems to be in sync with the disorganised website.

As per the doubles entry list on the official website, Leander does not appear in the list. What is he practising for ?S_K_S wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 3:36 pm Who is Lee playing with at the French? He has tweeted that he is practicing. https://twitter.com/Leander/status/999220036697911296
