Yes, good performance by these two. Arjun with his partner have reached the doubles final.

[QF] Arjun KADHE (IND) / Ronnie SCHNEIDER (USA) [3] 7-6(2) 7-5 Kazuma KAWACHI (JPN) / Kento TAKEUCHI (JPN)
[SF] Arjun KADHE (IND) / Ronnie SCHNEIDER (USA) [3] 7-5 7-6(10) Markus ERIKSSON (SWE) / Maximilian NEUCHRIST (AUT) [2]

Next,

The winners here get 35 points. So,a title can really boost Arjun's doubles ranking.

African ITF Series April-May 2018 ( Nigeria,Uganda)

Post by bujilover »

There is a series of $15K tournaments in Uganda throughout the month of May starting this week. Mods, can one of you rename the thread title to African ITF series or something relative to include this?

Jayesh Pungliya, Kaza Sharma, Kunal Anand, S D Prajwal Dev secured a main draw berth in this poor first-week list. Vashisht Cheruku, Ansu Bhuyan are in the qualifying draw.

In Uganda futures, 3 Indians have reached the QF.

At $15K Uganda F1 futures, Kampala,Clay

[R2] S D Prajwal DEV (IND,1366) d. (6) Jayesh PUNGLIYA (IND,1085) 64 61
[R2] Kunal ANAND (IND,1168) d. (3) Shalva DZHANASHIYA (RUS,627) 46 62 62
[R2] (8) Vinayak Sharma KAZA (IND,1161) d. Giovani SAMAHA (LBN,1295) 67(8) 62 63

Next,

[QF] S D Prajwal DEV (IND,1366) vs. (1) Ivan NEDELKO (RUS,267)
[QF] Kunal ANAND (IND,1168) vs. (8) Vinayak Sharma KAZA (IND,1161)

Incidenently, all 3 Indians are in the top half. So, if one of them can upset the top seeded Russian, an Indian will make the final. But, that looks a tall order considering the gap in the rankings.

Why would somebody ranked 267 play in a 15K Futures in Uganda? :kookoo:

Yes and Suraj Prabodh gets an excellent upset win over the top seed to set up an all Indian SF. I think the best win of his career for Suraj.

At $25K(+H) Nigeria F3 futures, Abuja

[QF] Suraj R PRABODH (IND,1075) d. (1) Youssef HOSSAM (EGY,319) 76(9) 63

[QF] (4) Arjun KADHE (IND,397) d. (8) Jelle SELS (NED,483) 63 63

Next,

[SF] (4) Arjun KADHE (IND,397) vs. Suraj R PRABODH (IND,1075)

Arjun is also in second consecutive doubles final with his American partner.

Wow! Surprising win from Suraj Prabodh who seems to be showing some consistency last couple of weeks.

Yes, good wins by both Suraj and Arjun! Suraj turns the table on this opponent who got him in the QF of the last leg!

Great to see the improvement by Suraj -- particularly in overturning last week's result against the top seeded Egyptian. (Egyptian tennis -- even more lost than Indian tennis after the heroics of Ismael el-Shafei in the 1970s -- seems to slowly be coming back, although Suraj and Prajnesh have dealt that comeback a few choice blows!).
And nice to see Arjun back on track this week. May the best Indian player (on the day) win the SF!

[SF] (4) Arjun KADHE (IND,397) 6-3 3-6 6-1 Suraj R PRABODH (IND,1075)

[F] (4) Arjun KADHE (IND,397) vs. Joao MENEZES (BRA,394)

Joao is the winner & runner-up here at F1, F2 futures. And he defeated Sumit in 3 sets (on Spanish Clay) this year. :goodluck:
