A player ranked above 1000s should be a cakewalk QF opponent for Ankita but Monica Robinson seems to have played a lot of quality matches last couple of weeks. Good luck to Ankita!

Saniapower has consistently spoken against Karman. He is just looking for validation for his viewpoint that she is a bad tennis player.

Yes and Karman seems to be giving him reasons to further attack her. I am following the scores in her match against Sizikova and from 5-2 up she has lost 5 straight games to lose the first set 5-7. :damn:

And she lost the second set too.

[QF] (5) Karman Kaur Thandi (IND,278) l. Yana Sizikova (RUS,474) 57 36

And Ankita got a walkover in her QF match.

[QF] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,255) d. (Q) Monica Robinson (USA,1151) W.O

Next,

[SF] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,255) vs. Yana Sizikova (RUS,474)

Sizikova seems to be suddenly in sizzling form this week beating top 200 player in second round and top 300 Karman in QF, Can Ankita stop her run ?

I don't like this wins by retirement.

Another win by virtue of retirement for Ankita , but this one seems like her opponent chickened out with 2 games away from the loss.

A win is a win is a win albeit by retirement. I am not a fan of retirements where the player doesn't have the gumption to complete the match -- I am no longer using a term that we use for this behaviour in the forum. It is another thing if you are so hurt that you can't continue to play any more.

Great job by Ankita defeating Sizikova for the 4th time in a row. Amandine Hesse had a great run at the WTA $125K series at Mumbai last year where she also defeated Ankita in straight sets. She clearly is the favorite but good luck to Ankita :goodluck:

[SF] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,255) 6-2 4-0 ret Yana Sizikova (RUS,474)
[F] (4) Ankita Raina (IND,255) vs (2) Amandine Hesse (FRA,215)

I watched live that match which Ankita played against Amandine Hesse at Mumbai WTA and it was quite a close one with Ankita matching her opponent but just fell short in the end. I hope she and her coach work out a strategy based on that match to try to win tomorrow.

A lot is is at stake. Ankita has won 30 points so far which should take her ranking to around 225. She is very close to her previous career high of 222. A win tomorrow would not only take her to new career high but take her to inside 210 in the rankings and close to French open qualies cut off. Can she turn the tables on Hesse ?

Great job by Ankita to go one better than her seeding, thus making the final this week. I hope she can dig deep and spring a pleasant surprise in the final!

Sameer, Are you sure about this? I have been tracking her ranking updates on live tennis rankings website and it shows her at 255 with the Final appearance so far.

Yes,quite sure. Her current ranking is 255. How can it be still 255 after earning 30 points so far this week.( and with no points to defend this week).

I think live rankings may not have added these 30 points as 25K points are updated a week late.
