I was about to throw in the towel (to Samarth), and lament that we had jinxed our players by starting this thread — but finally there is a faint glimmer of hop in Leander.

It’s still not over! PaCe beat Klaasen/Venus 26 64 10-7, and are through to the semifinal in Dubai!!
A measure of revenge for Venus/Klaasen beating Bopanna/Roger-Vasselin in R1. Venus of course is the reigning FO doubles champion. Good win!
They play Dzhumhur/Krajinovic in the SF.

I am relived that a thread started by me did not prove totally disastrous - :D

Excellent win and Leander defends his last year's Dubai SF points.

Next,

[SF] (WC) Jamie Cerretani (USA)/ Leander Paes (IND) vs Damir Dzmhur (BIH) / Filip Krajinovic (SRB)

Jamie Lee picked up the PaCe in the STB! What an awesome win over last week's title winners (in Marseilles)!
Lee's making a case for Davis Cup inclusion! Go Lee!

Leander PaCe on court now.
Dodge Ram went off the road, though.

[SF] (WC) Jamie Cerretani (USA)/Leander Paes (IND) d Damir Dzmhur (BIH) / Filip Krajinovic (SRB) 6-4, 6-2

[F] Jamie Cerretani(USA)/Leander Paes (IND) v. J. Rojer (NED)/Horia Tecau (ROM)

Paes-Cerretani have been very productive as a pair this year. Perhaps, they should try to connect for the rest of the year...

Making the Dubai final takes Leander to 46 in the live rankings. Cerretani is at 69 (and his career-high is 45). This is the pairing that has worked best for LP this year. Tough final coming up! Let’s win it Lee!

PaCe are ranked 22 in the race to London, just behind Bopanna/Roger-Vasselin at 20. Their opponents in the Dubai final are ranked 9, although their individual doubles rankings are 12th and 13th. If PaCe win the final, they will jump to #13 in the race ranking. The case for making their pairing permanent at least for this year is strong.

Also he is just 2 spots behind Divij who is at 44 in live rankings. A title will take him ahead of Divij at India #2.

He is certainly making a strong case for davis cup selection.

Davis cup team is selected by Mahesh. Ranking is not a criteria. Being close to him is.

True, there is also AITA and selectors in mix. It will be difficult for them to ignore Leander if he us ranked higher than Divij and winning tournaments.

Leander picked up the PaCe in the semis! Well, so do Jamie! Great to see Lee in the finals of a 500!
Mr. Bhupathi, are you watching?
