5-3 Upped his level in last few games. When he cuts out the ufe's he looks a different player.

Big come on from Yuki on winning the match. Unlike him to be so animated. Way to go Yuki.

Great win. Good luck against Sock. The American hasn't had big results this year since his surprising Paris Masters win. Yuki definitely can challenge him. :goodluck:

Solid win by Yuki against a top 100 grinder on a medium paced court! These are matches he often lost in the past including to Basic in their last match.

He definitely has the game to challenge Jack Sock especially if Sock makes his share of mistakes as he's being doing this year....

Sock is solid. It will go to 3 sets. Tomorrow rest day for Yuki. Good for Yuki. Yuki's run is Comparable to Sania's 2007 US hard court series just after wimbledon. But Yuki is better than Sania imo.

Yuki is not on schedule tomorrow, so he gets an extra day to recover from the blister. I am sure he is very motivated to do well against Sock. A day of rest will not only give his body enough time recover but also gives him time to come up with right strategy. My sixth sense tells me that we will see another upset on Saturday!

Good job by Yuki today. His returns were sharp (5/13 on bk points in 10 return games) and he was quick on his feet. The way he got to one of the drop shots later in the match tells me his feet should be fine on Saturday. A day's rest will help him recover and recharge.
:goodluck: against Sock in the next round.

Solid consistency from Yuki to come through against a grinder. He is making it a habit to qualify into Masters tournaments and routinely win main draw matches. This is just wonderful.
Yuki beat Sock the last time they played -- at the Kaohsiung Challenger in September 2013 -- and of course Yuki beat Sock at the USO juniors in 2009 (64 63), so he will clearly start with a robust psychological edge going into Saturday's match. In Taiwan it was an indoor hard court, which suited Yuki's game marginally more than an outdoor hard court. But this is the new, consistent Yuki.
Sock has had a very poor start to 2018 in singles (although he has done better in doubles, winning the IW title last week with Isner). His best match of the year was probably his loss to Feliciano Lopez at Indian Wells (in a close 3-setter). He has lost to the likes of Escobedo and Opelka.
Yuki in straight sets on Saturday. Come on!!

Yuki in this form is going to beat Sock. Could be straights, I reckon.

Great stuff! Looks like Yuki basically bossed the Bosnian, who may not have felt so lucky being a loser! Way to go, Yuki! Now it's time to Sock Jack!

In 2011, Som had reached the 4th round at Indian Wells and 3rd round at Miami. If you look at the most recent benchmark that is why it is. He reached the 3rd round at Miami again in 2013.

Superb win by Yuki , and so pleasing to see him display consistency and maintain the same level of play in these highly charged Masters.
Sock has a reputation of being lackadaisical in performance at times and hope Yuki can fully exploit that area , But inspite of that, Yuki with his percentage Tennis and volleying abilities which were on full display the last time they met in Taiwan, can take care of Sock.

Yuki's form on HC since the breakthrough run in DC has been impressive - just looking at his results, it seems that he plays at a top 50 level against both big servers and baselines but struggles against ballbashers who probably throw him off his game.

Washington DC
Reaches last 32 beating Broady and Kozlov
Monfils - #22, big serve + ballbasher - win
Pella - #100, baseliner - win
KAndy - #45, big server - loss in 3 sets

....

Pune CH
Wins

Bangalore CH
Gets to the semis, bad loss to ballbashing Sumit

Pune
Beats Kadhe in R1
Herbert - #81, ballbasher - 3 set loss

AO
Qualifies beating Schnur, Taberner and Polansky
Baghdatis - #127, ballbasher - bad loss

Chennai CH
Gets to the final, loses to Jordan Thompson #107 in 3 sets, playing style??

Dubai
Wins against Dodig, shocking loss against Maden #138

IW

Wins against Novikov and RamK
Mahut - #101, baseliner - win
Pouille - #12, big server - win
Querrey - #21, big server - 3 set loss

Miami

Wins against Olivo and Ymer
Basic - #75, grinder - win
Sock - #11, big server - ???

Amazing time it was. We had so much hope. Then the injury happened. Sad part about that playing style.
