Wouldn't this also make her one tired lady also... :p
It would have if they had been in consecutive weeks. The first 2 title wins for her were 2 weeks back. So, she got sufficient rest before this week. Unfortunately proved too good for Zeel today. But, Zeel did show some turnaround in form this week. Hope she does better next week ( as do Rutuja and Kanika).

Great fight from Zeel again but having ranked in the top-20 juniors once, she should start winning this kind of matches. Caroline's best ranking was not even top-100 in the junior circuit.

Rutuja should talk to Zeel for tips to defeat Julia. :goodluck:

So true. Karman, Zeel, and Mahak - the three that looked to be among the most talented recent youngsters - are all stuck right where they are and not making any progress lately. I guess I am getting impatient.

Yes. None of the youngsters is really showing an improvement. The only player making a move is Ankita, who has clearly taken the next step over the last few months - though I wish she had made this move 3 or 4 years earlier, which I think she could have done, with proper coaching and training.

I think Karman had also taken a step forward last year but definitely stagnating this year. Hopefully, it's a case of taking one step back before taking 2 steps forward.

The others, Zeel, Mahak, and Pranjala haven't had their breakthrough on the main tour (equivalent to challenger level play) although they have excelled as juniors.

They are not even in the top 30 in their age group which would indicate a top 200 peak and that is incredibly disappointing.

of course, Ankita persevered to outperform her age group rankings so not a hopeless situation but quite unlikely.

Precisely. But perhaps there is a 0.25 or 0.20 chance that somebody may have a spurt much later like Ankita, and get inside the top-30 or top-25 in their age group. So I keep hoping that some one player from among them (Karman, Zeel, Pranjala, Mahak) and others like Mihika would get somewhere later, and get inside top-250 or top-200. Still, there does not seem to be much chance that we will have a top-150 player for quite a few years (except Ankita herself in the near future, hopefully). Unless Karman takes the next step sometime in the next few months, that is.

I repeat that Mahak is making a huge mistake by not playing the juniors this year. She may have already set herself back by 2-3 years, and might have even lost a chance to make it to a top US college if she was interested in it. And chances to improve in college tennis is also not gret if you don't make it to a top-10 or top-20 program.

I don't think it is still hopeless situation for these players to get to top 200 level. Karman is ranked 263 a couple of months before her 20th birthday. Ankita was somewhere in 500's at same age and started making her breakthrough towards top 300 only past 20 and top 200 now at 25.
I know it is rare but Karman is still much ahead at age level. She can make it top 200 next year or so.

Of course, next step to top 100 us much more difficult and not sure if any of these girls will ever make it to that level. But, top 200 too is not bad by our WTA standards so far.
Next couple of years are going to be critical for all of them though to even achieve that.
