Wins it 6-4
It should have been a easier outing but he won. That's enough for now

And this time he does not falter like first set and holds at 15.
[QF] (2) Yuki Bhambri (IND,112) d. (6) Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN,222) 57 62 64
A match in which he was clearly a much better player and should have finished in straight sets. But, bad patch of 3 games at the end of first set cost him. But, in the end he cruised thru in 3 sets.

Next he faces Duck Hee Lee in the Semi Finals, who himself needed 3 sets to overcome the French Man Antoine Escoffier in his QF match.

Yuki's match going on serve at 5-5 in the first set. Just 1 break point so far which Yuki missed in Lee's last service game.

Yuki breaks at the second opportunity at 5-5 and hold at 15 to win set 1 7-5
Hope he can close it in 2.
Yuki had no breakpoint against him. He is playing much better than yesterday, when he was making so many unforced errors.

Nicely done to take the first set. Let’s hope he can finish it off in straight sets!

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018
Yuki is up a break leading 3-1 in the second set. Still no breakpoints on his own serve although he was taken to deuce in his last service game.
Yuki had a chance for another break at 40-30 but Lee holds for 2-3.
Yuki holds at 15 for 4-2. His second serve winning % is staggering 85%. better than first serve winning % of 75%.
And another break at 30 for 5-2. Finish it off now, Yuki.
And he finished it off easily in the end.

Good solid win for Yuki. He is at 100 in the live rankings now and will move up a few spots if he wins the final.

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018
Yes, he is close to being back in top 100. Jordan Thompson who is the top seed here in Chennai is just behind him and will be playing his semi final now against the Spaniard Pedro Martinez. If Thompson too wins his SF and moves to the final, he will overtake Yuki in the live rankings.
If he loses, Yuki will be confirmed to be in top 100 in the new rankings.

Thanks Sameer. You are right that Jordan will overtake Yuki if he wins the tournament. Yuki appears to be in decent form and should have a good chance to win the final. Best of luck Yuki. Jordan has won the first set and is up a break against Martinez.

Jordan Thompson wins his semi final. Now, he is at 98 in live rankings and Yuki at 101. If Yuki wins tomorrow he will overtake Jordan inside top 100.
[F] (2) Yuki Bhambri (IND,112) vs. (1) Jordan Thompson (AUS,107)
Tough match with a top 100 place at stake.
